Description:

This mod re-adds a feature lacking in EU5 from previous paradox titles – raiding. It’s present in game in a softcore manor, available for clans, but it isn’t as impactful. In real life, raiding was done by all countries, especially during the 100 years war between France and England.

My mod attempts to add a balanced, semi-dynamic manor of raiding, that you will see the antagonism cost over time increase as the world opinion on raiding decreases as wars tend to professionalize. However, many wars did devolve into raid fests again, like the 30 years war in Germany.

You can find the actions in the unit abilities tab. This has no performance impact and no mod incompatibilities. The AI does not raid yet, and there are some requirements to raid, like army size and province development. The 5 actions added in order of increasing severity:

Fortify Hostile: Loot the nearby settlements to increase province defensiveness

Raid: Grab some loot from the population

Kidnap: Steal pops, send them back to your capital to be dispersed wherever needed

Pillage: Middleground between raiding and torching, grab some gold and terrorize the province as well.

Torching: The ultimate malicious act, you’ll not gain much except the negative opinion of those involved and around you.

Anyway, consider the mod open source. I will update it in the future to be less rigid and more dynamic but feel free to make your own versions in the meantime.
