Shieldwraith Class for LWOTC
March 28th Update:
Added Origin perk and fixed some localization
The Shieldwraith is a unique heroic class, limited to one soldier per campaign.
It was designed for the BEYOND LEGENDARY environment for Ted Jam:
So no question it is a little over-tuned for standard LWOTC.
(Known visual issue: throwing axe visuals are still being fixed.)
The Shieldwraith is recruited only through a covert op:
– Available from campaign start
– Reappears monthly until completed
– Removed permanently after completion
If the Shieldwraith dies, there is no replacement.
This class uses only the custom weapon set included in this mod:
– Wraith Axe
– Wraith Shield
Current weapon tiers:
– Conventional
– Magnetic (unlocked with Magnetic Weapons)
– Plasma (unlocked with Plasma Weapons and requires Psionics)
Top Row: Aggressive melee hit/damage scaling.
Middle Row: Durability, control, and AoE tools.
Bottom Row: Self-buffs and WraithMark debuff upgrades.
Ravage
The class’s primary attack (its version of Rend).
Generates focus and triggers momentum.
Can be upgraded by Coffin Nail, Heavy Swing, and Ravage Wave.
Battering Ram and Chain Slam are mutually exclusive secondary attack paths:
Battering Ram
– Costs 1 focus
– Dashing shield bash
– Non-turn-ending
– Inflicts disorient
Chain Slam
– Automatic shield bash follow-up
– Triggers after Ravage and selected other abilities
Secondary path upgrades:
– Greater Bash: Upgrades shield attacks and certain disorienting effects to also apply a 1 AP stun
– Ramming Speed: Adds Battering Ram damage based on distance traveled
WraithMark is the class-defining mechanic:
– Free action
– Costs 1 focus
– Targets any visible enemy
– Applies defense debuff + tracking/reveal effect
– Duration: 6 turns
Mark of Vengeance
– Enables reactive WraithMark play
– Once per turn, marks the first enemy that attacks the Shieldwraith
Bottom-row upgrades significantly expand WraithMark value:
– Gilgul adds heavy debuffs
– Additional perks reinforce the mark-and-collapse playstyle
Nether Pulse
Free action pulse that consumes focus to deal damage in a small AoE around the Shieldwraith.
Spite Pulse
Bladestorm-style reaction pulse:
– Fires once per turn
– Triggers on enemy action
– Consumes focus on trigger
Shadowweave
AoE spell-like ability:
– Deals light damage to enemies in area
– Heals allies in area
– Healing scales from number of enemies hit (lifesteal-style pattern)
Ravage Wave
Upgrades Ravage into an AoE attack.
Splash damage scales with current focus.
Echo Slam
Large dashing melee AoE.
Damage scales with number of enemies in area.
Absurdly high environmental damage.
Can damage allies and destroy objectives.
Shadowjaunt
Teleport strike against a previously marked target:
– Teleports adjacent to marked target
– Delivers a guaranteed critical strike
– Consumes all focus
– Adds bonus damage based on consumed focus
– Disorients nearby enemies
Shadowtap
Increases max focus and grants 1 focus at turn start.
WraithForm
Wall Phasing + Fortress.
Greater WraithForm
Shadowstep + Deflect.
Revenant
Sustain + mental immunity.
– Axe throw animation can show reversed axe orientation and erratic projectile behavior
– Shield bash animation can occasionally override primary attack animation
– Ravage Wave preview radius may not perfectly match effect radius (about 0.5 tile diagonal discrepancy)
Requires LWOTC and Community Highlander.
Also relies on the expected shield ecosystem (True Primary Secondaries, Ballistic Shields, and related framework mods).
This class would not exist in working form without extensive help from:
– Merist
– Tedster
– Reshi
Many core abilities only function because of Merist’s direct rewrites of my original implementations.
