Description:

How is this different than other color mods?

Most of them dye armor using the existing colormaps in the game – a splotch on the chest, a spot on the head.

I have redone (or created new) colormaps for most of the armor in the game – that is, defining WHERE on the armor your colors show. Instead of "splotch on chest," the entire armor is now colored.

This affects all NPC factions as well – now they look distinct and show their true colors.

I have preserved details like material texture, leather straps, metal rivets, etc. instead of just "dipped in a paint bucket" effect that turns everything to mud.

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE

In 30 seconds you can customize the player’s faction colors to anything you want. All armor you wear in game will become this color scheme. Tired of those colors? 30 more seconds to change it. Make a dozen different settings for my mod, and choose whichever color scheme you feel like using when you start the game!

HOW I DO DIS

I will make a video if this isn’t clear, but it’s super simple.

FIRST YOU HAVE TO COPY THIS MOD from the Steam Workshop folder numbers into the Kenshi mod folder, and change my mod number folder into a name. Like this:

Go into Steamsteamappsworkshopcontent
The Kenshi folder will always be number 233860
In that folder, look for number 1831219811
That will always be the number of this mod

COPY the folder number 1831219811 into
SteamsteamappscommonKenshimods

THEN change the name of folder 1831219811 to be
"Player Faction Armor Color"
without quotes but with those exact spaces.

Start Kenshi in Steam
Select "Launch Modding Tool."

In the top box, make sure all 4 of the game’s base files are checked.
In the lower box, make sure Player Faction Armor Colors is checked AND NOTHING ELSE!! Easiest way to do this is click the "select none" button on the right first, then click my mod.

Then click the button to make a new mod on the right side of the box.
Name it anything you want, like "MyFirstColorScheme," or "BlueAndGrey," or "Humphrey."
It should show up with

*ACTIVE*

after it in the line. Don’t proceed unless your new mod is the *ACTIVE* mod. If it is, click DONE.

Then on the list on the left, click on COLOUR SCHEME.
Scroll down the list until you find "NamelessPlayer"
Double-click NamelessPlayer.

Click Color1. Click the button that appears on the right (it doesn’t look much like a button, but it is!)
Ooooo, a color palette appears!
Choose your favorite color. This is now your faction’s PRIMARY color.
Click Color 2. Click the button. I’m sure you can guess the rest. This is now your faction’s SECONDARY color.
Click OK on all open windows.

Save mod.

Close FCS.

Start Kenshi.

Activate your file you just made in the MODS list and then click "Save Config." MAKE SURE YOUR FILE IS BELOW MINE IN THE LIST, OF COURSE.

Now your choices are your faction colors.

Starting a new playthrough? Feel like RPing a different group?
Wait, don’t edit your first file! Make another one, with a differnet name!
Make as many as you want! When you get bored with one colorscheme, deselect it in the Mods list, and activate a different one!
