Description:
"They’re Coming" – Thousands of them, they have muskets and cannon, they have Marines! – Run, hide! – They’re Coming!

The most important thing to understand is that Guns of Bretonnia is NOT a "units mod"; It’s NOT a free DLC; – Guns of Bretonnia 4 is a Realism mod; -It’s NOT intended or designed to work in conjunction with the thousands of mods that are available for Warhammer 3, it is intended to be compatible with the vanilla version of the game; And while it’s not a complete overhaul, it does change several aspects of the game that I felt were too unrealistic, unfair, or unnecessary.
-And if you wish to try out the mod, its important for you to understand that these features will NOT change.

Compatibility

Not compatible with radious Mods, or Mods that change extensive in game archives.
Simply put, there is no way to make the mod compatible with heavy duty mods that change a lot of in game files, please feel free to try different mods at your own discretion, If they are a small download (small File) it is possible they may work. If the game starts behaving strangely, crashes, items or units are missing, you cant upgrade the smithy chain, etc. the mod combinations you are using are incompatible.

Why Guns of Bretonnia 4?

Initially Guns of Bretonnia was a personal project intended to help me cope with severe PTSD; it was never intended to appeal to mass audiences or be released publicly on Steam. After sharing the mod with some friends, I was asked to open it to the public, so I did. Guns of Bretonnia 4 was particularly challenging to complete since my other DEV team member passed away during production. My beloved Princess, a 17-year-old Siamese cat that never left my side, passed away in August; after that, it was very difficult to continue the work. Yet I felt deeply moved to carry on and finish the MOD so that I could dedicate it to my lost companion. It is in her honor that Guns of Bretonnia 4 – Dawn of the Vampires has been completed and brought to you with the love and dedication it deserves.

Changes to Firearms (damage, range, rate of fire, and hit probability)

The way firearms are portrayed in the game is unfathomably unrealistic, even for a fantasy game; Firearms in the game (black powder weapons mostly) are ridiculously accurate even at extended ranges, but also weak beyond measure, it doesn’t take 20 hits from a .70 caliber musket ball to kill or disable an enemy ("more like one") – This mod aims to portray firearms as they are in real life. -its important to note that they are also carefully balanced so that they are not unrealistically overpowered, -so don’t worry if you see 11k damage in some stats, -most of the shots will miss causing units no harm unless they are hit, and the hit chance dramatically decreases the further away you are from your target, as in real life.

• Blob Spamming

Guns of Bretonnia 4 will force you to use strategy, advance your tech quickly, and procure the right types of units because the enemy will attack you using elite units; you won’t be able to simply throw blob spam armies at it and expect to win, it will eat you alive. Lean on the upgraded garrisons I have given you, prioritize the most dangerous units and focus fire, hit winged and elite vamps with everything you’ve got, procure counter units such as Beast Hunters, Hellwagons, and Hand Cannoneers, or you won’t be able to fend off the Winged Vampires. You will have to stay sharp and play smart in order to survive, and remember "They’re coming" -stand fast, hold the line, and "God speed"…

• Removed unlimited Stamina

You will no longer see armies sprinting all the way from the edge of the map, engage in melee or ranged combat for extended times, break and then sprint all the way back to the edge of the map while outrunning a horse, that’s just unacceptable. Armies will walk and close to within engagement range, (as they do in real life) and if they shatter after intense combat, they will disengage and attempt to flee by running or walking away as fast as an exhausted person can do, but no sprinting! -which also happens to be historically were 90% of casualties happened, while "routing" you will now get a chance to experience this taste of reality, for good and bad.

• Realistic unit battlefield deployment

To compensate for weak AI, in most of the maps the game boxes you in to the most disadvantageous locations possible; -Not even the worst field commander (no matter how drunk or incompetent) would deploy his units in such terrain; Battles have been won and lost, over careful selection and preparation of advantageous terrain (not the other way around); -In order to compensate for this gross misrepresentation, I have given all units guerrilla deployment.

• Friendly Fire

Throughout history, friendly fire has been a real concern, and a mayor problem on the battlefield, the sad truth is that in combat you are almost as likely to be wounded or even killed by one of your own, than by the enemy. This has been reflected in this mod, -So be very mindful of how you place your ranged units, especially your musketeers and troops armed with firearms, or low arcing weapons.

• Occupying Settlements

Why would you receive less money from destroying a settlement than from looting it? Additionally, why would you invest such blood and treasure in besieging a settlement that will yield you no profit and, conversely, become a burden on your economy? Why would you occupy a settlement that forces you to recruit more troops to defend it while netting you minimal or negative profit? For this reason, I have increased the base income that settlements provide so that they are actually an asset to your economy and are worth capturing.

• Mercenaries

Historically, mercenaries have played a pivotal role in warfare, while typically much more expensive than your normal levy pressed into service at the tip of a bayonet, mercenaries are professional soldiers, well equipped, and veterans of many wars, they are worth their weight in gold for the fates of empires rest in their iron, for this reason I have provided you with an ample selection of mercenaries via the RoR recruitment tab – and trust me you will need them!
"They’re coming"

• Progressive unit upgrades for Brettonia and Vampire Factions

Most Bretonnian and vampire units can be upgraded via the warband upgrade system once they acquire the required veterancy (unit XP) – Some elite units can only be unlocked trough veterancy via the upgrades panel.

• Next level particle effects

Inspired by, and building on the fantastic work by BrutusCz. (feel free to check out his amazing work: "Guns, Smoke & Spectacle") -I have taken the particle effects (muzzle flashes, tracers, smoke, impacts, etc.) to a whole different level, I promise you will hate the existing particle effects on the vanilla game after playing this. – MAKE SURE TO SET YOUR VFX DETAIL TO ULTRA ON YOUR GRAPHICS SETTINGS in order to see the pretty fireworks.

• Meticulously crafted units models

While I cant claim to be an artist, I can tell you that every time I felt like quitting the project (it is truly very hard work) I fired up the game and looked at my beautiful units, this part took 90% of the development time, the horses, the uniforms, all meticulously crafted with the aim not only to match, but to surpass the models in the game, Do you like the incandescent eyes on the vampires? that’s not part of the game. I made that, it was very hard, but very fulfilling work, my hope is that you will enjoy it.
