This is a full English translation of the mod 归墟之门.
This is NOT a standalone version; the base mod must be enabled alongside the translation.

The torrent of history surges forward, all rivers and streams flowing into the desolate ground. After the death of Fernando III, the Christian nations ultimately failed to unify, the Reconquista stalled, and Iberia remains fragmented to this day.
The Golden Horde disintegrated, the Black Sea steppe carved up by packs of wolves. Orthodox Christians have reclaimed the lands of the great steppe, and Kievan Rus’ has broken free from the Mongols, but internal strife runs deep. Civil war in Rus’ is imminent; this land is destined to be engulfed in the flames of war.
The aftershocks caused by Stefan the Great have yet to subside in Anatolia. A mighty Crusade was once again dismantled by the Turks. The ruler of Edirne, like an arrow loosed from its string, vows to restore the glory of the Ottoman Empire.
The Serbian Empire, like a centipede that does not die even when crushed, failed to secure lasting peace even after betraying the Crusaders. Now, the Balkans are once again ablaze with war.
The Albigensian Crusade ended in failure. The Cathars established the Kingdom of Arles, which, together with the northern Kingdom of Lotharingia and the rising Kingdom of England, has plunged the French Capetian dynasty into dire peril.
The Sahada dynasty spans Asia and Africa, standing above the Abbasid Caliphate and the Hashemites, establishing once more a vast empire uniting the Three Holy Sanctuaries. Yet, the empire’s collapse is now unstoppable. The great wheel of history rolls forward, and we finally step through the Entrance to the Desolate Ground…
-
Rich and Elaborate Mission Trees:
The vast majority of recommended nations have mission trees exceeding 25 rows. The nation with the largest tree boasts over 200 missions.
-
Abundance of Unique New Mechanics:
A core feature of the EDG mod is its plethora of new mechanics. Most tags possess a unique, highly innovative, exclusive mechanic. Concepts like all-cavalry armies or the Mughal Diwan are not even considered special mechanics here. If you have 2000+ hours of gameplay experience, the extensive new mechanics in this mod will provide you with a wealth of unique and enriching experiences.
-
Massive Array of Exciting Events:
Recommended nations in EDG are packed with numerous engaging events. Representative nations like France have over a hundred new fun events, while Riga has nearly three hundred. The large number of events and narratives will greatly enhance your gameplay experience.
-
More Engaging "Battle Royale":
EDG is a mod focused on a fast-paced experience, offering a quicker game tempo and higher operational demands compared to the base game. It requires intense competition between you and your rivals, leading to more demanding management operations. Throughout the mod, you will experience a near "survival of the fittest" challenge, bringing a stronger sense of achievement.
-
Abundant and Challenging National Disasters:
Many nations in the mod have exclusive disaster content. Through disasters, you can implement deeper reforms and access richer, more powerful content. Many national disasters are quite challenging; please only attempt them when you are prepared (Disaster difficulty is factored into the nation’s overall difficulty rating. If your early game goes smoothly and then you see a disaster progress bar start, immediately set aside other objectives and start preparing for your disaster, as it may be truly disastrous). The mod’s newly added purely punitive disasters are clearly marked in-game. Do not attempt to trigger them unless you are extremely bored.
-
Revamped Holy Roman Empire System:
EDG greatly expands the HRE, including the Imperial UI and reforms. It adds a series of Imperial incidents, decisions, and government reforms related to the Empire. This mod is one of the most extensive expansions of HRE content available.
-
More Major Historical Events:
The mod adds numerous highly impactful historical events, enhancing content like the Reformation, Italian Wars, and Renaissance. It also introduces new, massively influential historical events such as the Columbian Exchange, the Price Revolution, and the German Peasants’ War, allowing you to experience even more epic and grand historical narratives.
-
More General Content:
The mod adds a vast amount of religious content, unit types, government reforms, decisions, and more. Most content you can think of has been enriched in this mod.
- Ensure you have all DLCs, even if they are unofficial versions. Due to frequent issues, this mod now prevents players without all DLCs from playing.
- Do not blindly enable other mods. This is an extremely large-scale mod with very poor compatibility. It should only be used alongside the English localization mod.
- A certain level of gameplay proficiency is required. This mod has relatively high demands on game sense. A few recommended nations are simpler, requiring only 500+ hours, but more recommended nations suggest 2000+ hours.
- Have a realistic understanding of your own skill level. The mod’s balanced difficulty standard is Normal difficulty + the Great Conqueror game rule. Please do not overestimate your skill and blindly select Very Hard difficulty + Mythical Conqueror. It is even less advisable to then activate certain recommended nations’ Exclusive Modes, such as France’s Dream of the Fleur-de-lis mode, as this may present a challenge beyond your skill level.
- Read in-game prompts carefully. Hints written within tooltips are very important. If you carelessly skip them, you may suffer significant losses, especially when facing the mod’s many disasters.
- Due to practical constraints, the mod team has decided to permanently halt development of East Asian content. Please do not inquire about why development stopped or when it might resume.
- Finally, approach with an open, inclusive mind and a love for gaming. Please do not over-analyze historical parallels or get hung up on historical accuracy. This mod prioritizes gameplay; gameplay is its skeleton, artistic liberty its wings.
This mod is still in development and the development team is working hard to add more content. To provide ideas or check on progress, join the Discord:
