Historical Rulers – Ming Decline and Qing Rise
In vanilla EU5, the Ming Dynasty tends to remain overly powerful. This MOD simulates the process of the Aisin Gioro clan establishing the Great Qing, recreating the historical Ming-Qing transition. Experience the dynastic change of 17th-century China through carefully designed historical events and rulers.
In the early 17th century, the Ming Dynasty suffered from political corruption, financial exhaustion, and famine, with national strength declining day by day. Meanwhile, Nurhaci of the Aisin Gioro clan unified the Jurchen tribes and established the Later Jin in Manchuria. His son Hong Taiji changed the dynastic name to "Qing." In 1644, Li Zicheng’s rebellion captured Beijing and the Ming Dynasty fell. Subsequently, Qing forces entered the pass, and under the reigns of the Shunzhi and Kangxi Emperors, pacified all of China, establishing the foundation for over 270 years of Great Qing rule.
• Hong Taiji – The founding architect who transformed Later Jin into the Great Qing
• Shunzhi Emperor (Fulin) – Ascended as a child, with in-game choice of Dorgon or Jirgalang as regent
• Kangxi Emperor (Xuanye) – The legendary emperor with the longest reign in Chinese history
• Each ruler receives powerful bonuses (adjustable to balanced mode via game rules)
• Disaster progresses through 4 stages (Early Signs → Situation Worsening → Full Crisis → Dynasty’s End)
• Includes historical events such as eunuch tyranny, mass famine, peasant uprisings, and fiscal collapse
• Li Zicheng’s rebellion and the fall of Beijing integrate vanilla event mechanics
• If the crisis is overcome, a "Ming Restoration" can extend dynastic rule
• AI Jurchen expands in phases (Unify Tribes → Establish Later Jin → Enter the Pass → Pacify the South)
• Exclusive Aisin Gioro clan bonuses
• Option to prevent Korean expansion into Manchuria
• Manchu AI Expansion: Full / Standard / Disabled
• Ming Decline Disaster: Enabled / Moderate (25% effects) / Early / Disabled
• Qing Historical Rulers: Enabled / Moderate / Disabled
• Qing Expansion Level: Basic / Southern Conquest / Full Conquest
• Qing Expansion Modifier Intensity: Full / Moderate
* The "Moderate" setting is recommended for players playing as Ming. Disaster effects are reduced to 25% of normal strength.
This situation is avoidable depending on game rules.
Recommended Game Rule Settings:
• Ming Decline Disaster: Moderate or Disabled – "Moderate" reduces disaster effects to 25%. "Disabled" completely disables it
• Manchu AI Expansion: Disabled or Standard – Disables AI Jurchen unification bonuses
• Qing Historical Rulers: Moderate or Disabled – Reduces/disables powerful Qing emperor bonuses
• Qing Expansion Level: Basic – Limits AI Qing auto-expansion to Beijing only
• Qing Expansion Modifier Intensity: Moderate – Significantly weakens all AI Qing bonuses
How to Avoid Decline as Ming:
• Maintain Stability above 60
• Keep Celestial Authority above 50
• Avoid incompetent rulers (total ability below 180)
• Keep Government Power above 60
• Suppress rebellions promptly
If you maintain Stability 60+, no rebel armies, and Celestial Authority 50+, the disaster will conclude successfully.
This MOD may make the Qing Dynasty the most powerful force in the game. However, after the end of the Kangxi Emperor’s reign (around the 18th century), the spread rate of Institutions will significantly decrease, simulating the historical technological stagnation of this period.
The default game rules set modifier effects to be strong. If you find them too powerful, the "Balanced" setting is recommended.
English / Japanese / Simplified Chinese / Traditional Chinese
• Compatible with existing saves, but recommended to start a new game for the full experience
• Minimal conflicts with other MODs
