Buddy The Elf
Buddy the Elf is inspired by the movie Elf, but also takes from the video of YTPMV Elf, the Elf GBA game and the SiIvagunner rips of said game. Buddy fights with his christmas spirit and his pride.
Buddy’s main gimmick is his calendar. Days quickly count down on the calendar and Buddy gains access to Buffed Movement Stats and Special Moves during both June and December, or once every 6 months/twice a year.
The calendar starts at September 10th, 2021 when a match begins (though the year isn’t visible), the fabled date of 9/10/21. Consequentially, Buddy starts a match at just under halfway toward his install, December being in 2 months and 20 days as opposed to the usual 5 month gap between each install.
N-Special – Shiver Shield
N-Special throws a volley of 3 slow moving snowballs in 3 directions. these cover infront of Buddy very well, though can be snuffed out by other hitboxes, so be ready for your opponent. If the opponent is hit by a snowball, the other 2 will break, making this move only so defensive.
You can charge N-Special to make the snowballs much faster and higher in damage and knockback, making the move more offensive.
When buffed, charging becomes much faster, snowballs stay out for longer and snowballs don’t break after one hits an opponent, allowing them to potentially chain into eachother.
F-Special: BL Slash
F-Special is a 5-part slash, executed by holding or repeatedly pressing the special button, carving the "Yaoi" kanji (やおい) out infront of you. this move is slow but stalls you in the air and has high strength, making it a good option both on ground and in the air to take stocks. you can end the sequence early by not inputting special.
When buffed, F-Special automatically executes the entire sequence, not allowing you to stop mid-attack, but it becomes both much faster and stronger.
D-Special: Santa Phony Driver (SPD)
D-Special is an advancing command grab, leaping forward and piling into the ground when you get your hands on someone. This move continues holding the opponent until it hits the ground with them, or otherwise gets too close to the bottom blastzone, acting as if it hit a solid surface.
When buffed, D-Special travels much further, is stronger and has a different, more dramatic throw animation.
U-Special: Super Santa Jump
U-Special has really long startup, but Buddy leaps tremendously high with a powerful hitbox, dealing heavy damage to anyone in his way going up.
When buffed, U-Special becomes twice as fast coming out, can be fast-falled and has reduced pratland time afterward, making it much faster.
U-Air is the only normal with a buff, It is buffed to play a different sound effect, but only in June.
Several strange things happen due to dates on the calendar too, if you notice anything inconsistent or unusual, maybe check the date.
