This mod is developed based on the **0.0.79.52-test** game version. The current version of this mod is **incompatible** with the old Stable Version. Players using the Stable Branch cannot enable this mod; entering the game will result in red error text.

This mod should not impact game performance. If you feel the game slowing down or stuttering after enabling the mod, please check the mod settings and turn off all log output switches. Regular players should keep all log-related switches OFF; logs are intended for mod developers.

Mod Introduction & Update Log:

Why must we defeat Sword Tombs (Jianzhong) just to let the Taiwu gain Purity (Jingchun)? How do other characters in the world gain Purity without fighting Sword Tombs?
**Are Purity levels reserved only for the chosen ones?!** From today on, Purity can be achieved by running Internal Skills (Neigong) and accumulating Internal Force (Neili)!

* **Auto-Level Purity:** When a character’s cultivated Internal Force reaches the threshold for a Purity realm, their Purity will automatically increase upon the monthly turn change.
* Players no longer need to be a tool for Ran Chenzi to clear Sword Tombs, nor do they need to play the vanilla game just to clean up Ran Chenzi’s mess. No more dragging through a long plot where the protagonist feels like a roadside NPC.
* This saves *The Scroll of Taiwu* from being "The Scroll of Ran Chenzi," transforming it from an open-world game restricted by Purity caps into a completely free-play sandbox game.

* **Effective for NPCs:** It works for other characters in the world too. Your Companions, Villagers, and Children will no longer be stuck as low-Purity, useless waste.
* This means the more Internal Skills an NPC knows, the more Internal Force they can gain by circulating them, and the higher their Purity realm can rise.
* You can fill the inventories of children you want to nurture with various skill books (children can start reading at age 3).
* You can also fill the Taiwu Village Public Warehouse (Gongku) with skill books so everyone can practice and raise their Purity together.

* **Reading Optimization:** Optimized the monthly reading behavior for all NPCs in the world. Characters with high Comprehension (Wuxing) will read faster, and books that were originally unreadable will become readable upon reaching high Comprehension values (see Update Log for details).
* **Enemy Scaling Adjustment:** Lowered the level of Xiangshu Minions guarding treasures on the map. Now, even if the Taiwu has very high Purity, the treasure guardians won’t be so strong that they are impossible to beat (see Update Log).
* **Companion Comprehension:** Allowed Taiwu’s Companions to use Catalysts (Yinzi) to comprehend the mysteries of martial arts (Gongfa).
* Optimized the selection of Catalysts: NPCs will use high-tier skills paired with high-tier Catalysts.
* If a higher-tier Catalyst exists in the inventory, the mod will automatically remove the low-tier Catalyst from an already comprehended skill and replace it with the better one.
* Added a player option to choose whether Companions are forced to comprehend mysteries every month (see Update Log).

Update Log:

**Update: December 26, 2025**
Completely removed the game’s mechanic that forced players to play "Ran Chenzi’s Scroll." Removed the debuff that applied "Purity Severed" (forcing Strategy Points to 0 or 1 in combat) if the Taiwu’s Purity level exceeded the number of defeated Sword Tombs * 2.

**Update: December 27, 2025**
Previously, Purity only increased by 2 levels at a time. I realized there is no issue with non-even Purity levels. Purity now increases by +1 regardless of odd/even numbers: once the Internal Force gained from skills reaches the threshold for the next realm, Purity +1.
*Note:* I found that as Taiwu’s Purity rises, the level of characters recruitable to the village and potential "Possessed" (Ru Mo) characters in the world also rises. However, as long as Sword Tombs aren’t beaten, the main storyline won’t trigger, so there are no other side effects.

**Update: January 18, 2026**
Players reported that at very high Purity levels, the Xiangshu Minions guarding map treasures became too strong to defeat.

* I have limited the max level of these treasure guardians. Their level is now based on (Taiwu Purity / 2). This ensures players can easily defeat them (or one-shot them with Grade 1 skills).
* Capped the max Purity of all world NPCs at 18 (This does not apply to the Xiangshu Incarnations or Sword Tomb bosses spawned via events).
* The mod is now stable. Removed the debug log recording features to save performance and storage (The base game and other mods will still record logs; this is normal).

*Current Version Note:* Since this is based on the **Test Branch** and modifies map refreshes/treasure logic specific to the Test Branch, Stable Branch players will crash. Please use the old version link above if you are on Stable.

**Update: January 21, 2026**
I observed that NPC reading progress was very slow. After checking the official source code, I found NPCs often didn’t read during the month turn, or got stuck on unreadable books. I added the following optimizations:

* If NPC "Comprehension" > 30: Reading speed bonus applied.
* If NPC "Comprehension" > 40: Previously unreadable books become readable.
* During the month turn, if an NPC has unread books in their bag and is capable of reading them (based on stats), they will automatically read.

**Update: January 23, 2026**

* Added a feature where breaking through circulation limits grants a maximum of 50 True Qi cap.
* Fixed a bug where NPC monthly reading logic sometimes didn’t trigger.
* Optimized log output logic (Internal change, does not affect gameplay).

**Update: January 24, 2026**
Optimized NPC monthly reading logic: When there are unfinished books in the inventory, NPCs will prioritize finishing those books first.

**Update: February 14, 2026**
**New Feature: Companion Skill Comprehension (Xuanji)**

* If the mod setting "Force Companion Monthly Comprehension" is **OFF**: Whether a companion comprehends mysteries depends on vanilla game rules. However, they will still use the improved logic (High-tier skills + High-tier Catalysts). If a better Catalyst is in the inventory, they will automatically swap out the low-tier Catalyst from a skill and return the old one to the inventory.
* If the mod setting "Force Companion Monthly Comprehension" is **ON**: Taiwu’s Companions will strictly use Catalysts to comprehend skills every month. If no suitable Catalyst is available, they will use Experience (Lilian). The logic for replacing Catalysts remains the same as above.

**Bug Fix:** Fixed an issue where a character could reach a certain Purity realm but have Internal Force lower than the minimum required for that realm (e.g., Level 6 Purity but only 20 Internal Force). This will now auto-correct after a month turn.
