Unrestricted Romance (Player Only)
This mod is player-only: it relaxes vanilla hard blocks, hard rejects, and stacked penalties on romance (courting), seduction, marriage, betrothal, elopement, and concubinage — but only when you start the interaction or you arrange it (player character / player-directed marriage planning). AI characters are not given the same bypass for their own autonomous schemes and relationship logic.
What is actually lifted for the player (explicit):
– Faith and relation gates that vanilla uses to treat pairings as incestuous under doctrine (including dynastic consanguinity rules where they apply), or as homosexuality / sodomy under doctrine, for scheme validation when you are the one pushing the romance or seduction — so those pairings are no longer hard-stopped by those checks for your attempts.
– Under-20 hard rejection that vanilla can apply to certain incest/taboo seduction/romance attempts: the instant "hard no" path is not applied to player-initiated attempts the same way (AI keeps the stricter behavior).
– Marriage / matchmaking acceptance: vanilla’s brutal hard "never" modifiers from close kin / consanguinity, faith hostility, same-sex doctrine blocks, polygamy rules, and lineality are neutralized for player-initiated arrangements, so diplomacy and normal soft factors still matter instead of an automatic -1000 wall.
– Scheme maluses tied to taboo / unwilling incest / sodomy style progression penalties (and related hard blocks) are enforced for AI-owned schemes; your schemes are not fed through the same stacked punishment lines.
– Seduction: you may run cynical/targeted seductions even when vanilla’s mutual attraction gate would block a purely "lovesick" reading of the scheme (player-side exception). Extra success chance and a strong secrecy bias for player-owned seduction so outcomes are less comically doomed and exposure is less punishing than stacked vanilla secrecy.
– Romance (courting): extra success chance for player-owned schemes; progress no longer freezes for years while travel flags misbehave (landless camp / edge cases). Works for your character regardless of government flavor (settled, tribal, nomad, landless adventurer, etc.) — the edits key off you owning the scheme, not a specific government.
– Secret lover: when exposure would absurdly pin fallout on the wrong person in a player affair, vanilla’s exposer handling is toned down for that case; third-party exposure stays vanilla.
– Some vanilla scheme startup hard-rejects (including close-family / taboo seduction starts and the courting startup hook that can hard-stop AI) are enforced for AI only, so you are not hit by the same instant "no" while AI keeps the guardrails.
What is not changed:
– No new events, decisions, or custom event chains — this touches existing triggers, scheme types, marriage acceptance math, and one secret type, plus a small localization line for scheme bonus naming.
– Autonomous AI is meant to stay on vanilla rails: the mod does not turn the whole world into "anything goes" unless you drive the action.
– Soft logic (opinion, alliances, wars, personality, realm politics) is still there; the point is to remove fake hard locks that make player-directed play feel broken.
Players who want full control over their own character’s romantic and marital choices — including same-sex, polygamous, or close-kin pairings where vanilla doctrine would normally hard-block your actions — without turning the entire map into the same rules for every AI.

– Overrides specific vanilla files; load order conflicts are possible if another mod edits the same marriage triggers, religious triggers, romance/seduction triggers, scheme types, marriage scripted modifiers, or secret lover definition.
