Description:

To outsiders, the Verathid are cold, condescending, and infuriatingly precise. To themselves, they are the last true custodians of order in a fundamentally disordered world.

My goal for this mod is to add variety to the base game by including a new race that fits in seamlessly. I’ve tried to keep the graphics in line with the art style, and maintain a good balance in how they perform in a city. Let me know what you think.

• A whole new playable race
• Unique overhead sprites and portraits that fit seamlessly with the vanilla game
• Unique names
• Balanced stats
• A new sea based religion

Verathid are a race of ancient humanoid cephalopods. They believe civilization is founded not on conquest or faith, but on administration, regulation, and control. Where other races build empires with swords or plows, the Verathid build them with ledgers, decrees, and procedural inevitability. They believe chaos is the natural enemy of civilization and that only meticulous governance can elevate society above barbarism.

The Verathid people dwell in the deep oceans of the world and live in vast abyssal cities carved into drowned stone long before the rise of surface civilizations, and have avoided the turmoil of the age of ice. Only recently have they begun to slowly creep out from the depths to guide the world above into order. Though due to their reclusiveness, it isn’t common to see many emigrate out from the oceans. Verathid refuse to have their young anywhere outside of the waters, as they want them to grow up knowing where their true loyalty lies. They wish to live near the oceans and water, and enjoy fish as their main source of food.

Verathid have highly developed neural clusters to allow them to manage sever trains of thought with ease, even able to use their facial tentacles to write on different parchments simultaneously. Their bodies, however, are atrophied as living in the abyss doesn’t require much muscle growth. Because of this they cannot be relied upon to take on tasks of manual labor.
