Just cause it’s close doesn’t mean it has to be bad!

I got the feeling Luna’s sites were nerfed for balance reasons and just didn’t like that they were practically worthless after you could get beyond the Earth-Luna System. Based very loosely on data available about lunar surface resource availability.

Generally makes mining sites on Luna more in line with what you’d see across the rest of the Solar System.

Special Sites

There are 4 "special" sites in Luna’s json template.

  • The 2 polar sites are like a dry stony version of Mars’ poles, with a stony asteroid’s metals/nobles/fissiles.
  • Tranquility ~models the presence of KREEP resources, and so is combo of a Metallic and Metallic-Enriched asteroids.
  • Copernicus ~models the Compton–Belkovich Thorium Anomaly and so is a dry version of the Rocky KBO.

The rest of the sites are "Lunar Equatorial" and I’ve made them identical to bog standard Dry Stony Asteroids.

This should make (at least those 4 special sites) worthwhile to keep long term instead of just being a stepping stone to Mars. But the way the jump and width values work it can be hard to say.

I’ve included a table comparing the vanilla values with this mod and Richer Luna Mines, as well as reference vanilla values if you want the nitty gritty.
