Description:

What:

Reduces the playable area to Iberia, Southern France, and North Africa.

Why:

Lag reduction. I’d like to play without the bloat of tens of thousands of characters in far flung realms with which I’ll never interact. The smaller map mods in the workshop are still too broad or went a little too narrow for tastes, so I make my own.

Notable Changes:
  • Most regions have been made impassable. The titles and characters from those regions have been removed.
  • Some decisions were removed or altered for being outside of the map’s scope (Secure the Mediterranean, Reform the Holy Roman Empire, etc.)
  • Custom bookmarks have been made to provide a cohesive presentation.
  • Adjusted holy sites to all be within map bounds.
  • Because having landless lieges can cause problems, the Kings of France/England were given either the county of Bordeaux or Béziers.
  • Rulers in the Burgundy region have gained independence if they were vassals of now-out-of-bounds realms.
  • Discovered a vanilla character, Ordonu du Leon in 1066, who wasn’t becoming an adventurer due to a minor code error. I corrected it.
  • The ‘Establish the Dar al-Islam’ decision now only requires control of North Africa and Iberia.
  • Mecca and Medina have been given to whoever is the Sunni Caliphate at each start date.
  • A pseudo Suez Canal is put in, allowing Muslims to still perform the Hajj.

Known Bugs and Issues:
  • Everything seems stable and there were no crashes during testing, which consisted of running the game for 50+ years at each starting date a bunch of times.

Incompatibilities:
  • Not compatible with anything that changes 00_landed_titles.txt or provinces.png.

Compatibilities:

This mod should be compatible with the following;
