The T-72AMT is a modernized Ukrainian variant of the T-72 main battle tank developed to extend the service life and combat effectiveness of Ukraine’s armored forces. Introduced in the late 2010s, it focuses on improved protection, firepower, and battlefield survivability while retaining the proven T-72 platform.
Upgrades include enhanced passive and reactive armor, slat armor on the rear and turret, modern communications, improved night-fighting capability, and updated fire control elements. Armed with the 125 mm smoothbore gun, supported by a 7.62 mm coaxial MG and a 12.7 mm roof-mounted machine gun, the T-72AMT is optimized for both defensive and frontline combat roles and has seen active use in modern conflicts.
