With the updated emperor mechanic introduced with 1.7 / Fates Divided, I don’t think this is needed anymore, so I will not test or update it further. Leaving up for anyone playing older versions.

Are you also getting real tired of Liu Xie’s antics messing up all attempts at historical Cao Cao campaigns by constantly escaping?
After consulting the seven scholars of Jian’an (and experimenting with various vices, shackles and locking mechanisms) I now bring you the solution!
This mod completely eliminates the possibility of the Emperor escaping naturally, while maintaining the Prime Minister dilemma and scripted events such as the Emperor escape from Li Jue at the beginning of the A World Betrayed campaign.
And of course you can still capture/lose the emperor by capturing the Prime MInister’s capital.
The game periodically makes a check to evaluate if the current holder of the "Emperor Token" is the most desired emperor faction, based on a number of factors.
This check has two outcomes, either:
- Current faction is best = The Emperor stays – present Prime Minister dilemma
or - Other faction is best = The Emperor escapes! – trigger escape to new faction
This mod works by replacing the second outcome with the same code as the first, meaning, regardless of the outcome of the check, the result will always be to present the Prime Minister dilemma to the current Prime Minister faction.
With this mod, the possible outcomes of the check instead become this:
- Current faction is best = The Emperor stays – present Prime Minister dilemma
or - Other faction is best = The Emperor stays – present Prime Minister dilemma
This mod modifies the "3k_campaign_emperor_manager.lua" script in data.pack and is incompatible with any other mod that modifies this script.
