[WOTC] Custom Hero Promotions

The Community Promotion Screen has a really cool feature where you can tell it that a non-hero class should level up like a Hero class instead.

What does that mean you ask?

Well, that is where instead of 1 perk pick per level, it allows you to purchase any skills on unlocked ranks via AP. This is the way Templars, Reapers, and Skirmishers work.

The reason for this mod, though, is that to do that fancy conversion you have to create a custom event listener. That is what this mod does. It creates a fancy event listener. That’s it.

Well, almost it. It then allows other folks, through configs, to then add soldier classes to that config so that they are treated as Hero classes without that person needing to write their own fancy event listener.

But, most classes are designed for AP to be a bonus, not the primary way to purchase skills, so one then MUST also give the class more AP growth.

Which is where things get interesting. You see, there are two parallel tracks for giving reward AP on rank up: One for Hero units which is non-linear, and one for Base Soldiers which is linear based on the configured AP per rank.

This mod adds a second fancy listener to award the base soldier bonus AP as if it was a hero unit to make up for the shortfall. Yay!

This mod has one primary config option:

• ClassToConvert: This array is where you put the class name of the class you want to convert to using the Hero promotion scheme. It will convert CPS to use the correct purchasing pattern as well as setup the class to get bonus AP to spend. Nothing else is required. No need to touch the Class Data info or anything.
