Description:

The U Minh Forest is a large wetlands area located within the Cà Mau Penisula of South Vietnam. Consisting of the largest mangrove forest outside of the Amazon Basin and hosting the most diverse eco-system within the Mekong Delta region, the U Minh Forest is one of the world’s unique forest. A safe haven for the Viet Minh and NLF during the Indochina Wars of the mid-20th century, the U Minh Forest was the location of several intense battles as French, US, and South Vietnamese troops tried to dislodge their enemy from one of its most secure strongholds within the battlespace.

Note

* Clients should lower their Viewdistance to achieve the best performance on this terrain. There aren’t many areas where you will see further than 100-200 meters. Our internal testing has produced solid, steady fps on a dedicated server for all connected clients.
* This terrain was built with the intention of testing how far I could push things inside the engine. The AI do have problems navigating some areas due to the density of vegetation. Johnnyboy has created two scripts that thin out the trees; one for the mangroves and the second for the rest of the trees. These scripts will help with AI performance.

Acknowledgements

* Recon Team Blackfoot for being the best group of "Recon Weirdos" a dude could ask for. Without them I doubt I would find the motivation to even attempt a project of this magnitude.
* ArdvarkDB – Without him I would have never been able to wrap my head around the basics of Arma modding.
* Fox – He has provided valuable advice throughout the process and helped me bring this to a releasable state.
* Taro – Pointed me in the right direction to begin creating terrains for Arma 3 and provided valuable advice throughout the process.
* HorribleGoat – He helped guide me through those issues that always arise during Arma modding and without his input I would still be stuck scratching my head on a few things. The guru of Arma modding, I am extremely grateful for his enthusiasm to help out lost mod makers such as myself.
* MikeBravo – The creator of the amazing screenshots used for the Workshop page.
* JohnnyBoy – His ideas were very helpful and helped bring the element that really completes the vision I had for this terrain.
* ArgoChris – His water color settings really helped bring some more authenticity to the terrain as the brown water just feels right. A major thanks to him for sharing those settings with me.
* SOG Prairie Fire Team – They created this wonderful Vietnam sandbox for us to enjoy and allowed me to use their assets in my creations. These assets really helped make the terrain just that much cooler and, more importantly, optimized.
* The Arma3 Terrain Makers Discord Channel – There is a wealth of knowledge in that channel and it helped guide me through some of the steps that have less available documentation.
* Goonsix and JSAR – Helped with testing the map by playing the **** out of it for a few months.
