Merc: Inessa Mercado
Notice: This is my first ever published mod for Jagged Alliance 3. So I appreciate any constructive hint to improve and do better stuff, now and in the future.
And now to Inessa herself …
The daughter of a judge and a nurse initially enjoyed her childhood in a respectable middle-class home in Mexico City. She excelled at school, was always enthusiastic in sporting activities and of course a member of her school’s gymnastics team.
At the age of just eight her life changed completely, when her parents were assassinated by a local drug cartel. But because of Inessas resemblance to his recently deceased niece the drug boss "adopted" her, instead of getting her killed as well. So she grew up within the cartel organization, received training in firearms and further more abilities, and also continued to hone her strength, dexterity and agility. Subsequently, she later began to work for the cartel and rose to become the right-hand woman of the organization.
When she revealed that her "father" was responsible for her real parents murder, she took bloody revenge – by killing him and all higher members of the local cartel before escaping. With Fidels aid she ultimately found refuge at AIM and from that day on she tried to use her skills "for good" to clear her conscience and leave the past behind.
Inessa’s specialties stem from her eventful background. Fleeing from the police or rivaling organisations on secret sideways, using hideouts and knowing where useful items are stashed by the cartel – this all come in handy when doing missions for AIM.

She has a 50 percent bonus to free moves and always has at least 6 free moves available when eligible.

New Operation: Look for Cartel Stashes
In urban environment she can find stashes with ammo, modify parts, medical stuff, magazines or moneyand gemstones hidden by the cartel.

Personal Item: Inessas Necklace
The pendant of her necklace contains the last photo with her biological parents. Using it in battle gives an minimal accurancy bonus until the battle ends. Especially helpful on difficult shots.
I think, because of her high mobility in combat, Inessa is excellent in every team to fulfill a marksman or melee role. And she actually works quite fine in a solo run, I experienced during testing.
She is really grateful to Fidel for introducing her to AIM and mentoring her ever since. A real animosity between her and Steroid Gortaski developed, when she tried to warn him on her first hand experience with drugs, but he just harshly brushed her off by calling her an "annoying moralist ♥♥♥♥♥." Repeatingly, more than once.
Inessa comes with 140 individual voicelines, written by myself and recorded using a voice changer. Please forgive me the lack of an hispanic accent. For some authenticity I tried to blend in latin-american sayings, phrases and words. Also some gang/cartel slang is included.
I heavily edited a generated image to get the artwork base for Inessa. Her necklace is a photo composition. For the operation I edited a ingame image to get the cartel sign onto the wooden boxes. The cartel sign used for the perk and boxes refers to the mexican origins being a combination of two altered aztec symbols.
Besides bugfixes this mod itself is finished. But initially Inessa was just used for testing purposes,, while trying to do my first mod – a whole team of six female mercs, ‘The Other Ones’. And this is what is coming next, already scheduled for february.
If this mod and the upcoming one are well received, I could imagine to do some campaign stuff to shed some more light on background stories. Like how Inessa left the cartel or how the other six merc ladys came together in the first place.
