November 1985. The Cold War has reached its boiling point. The Soviet Northern Fleet has activated its "Bastion" protocol, withdrawing its strategic assets toward the Arctic sanctuary. Intelligence reports confirm that an unidentified hostile SSBN has sortied from the Kola Peninsula and is racing toward the ice pack. Once beneath the polar ice, it will become virtually untraceable.
You command the USS Atlanta (SSN-712), a Los Angeles-class hunter-killer. Your objective is to penetrate the Barents Sea, identify, and neutralize the SSBN before it reaches its patrol box and receives launch verification. You are supported by SAG Alpha (led by the USS Ticonderoga) on the surface, but their visibility will attract the scrutiny of coastal surveillance Rely on SOSUS and information provided by the KH-11 satellite to build your tactical picture.
SSBN submarines will likely be escorted.
