Shokuho: Dreams of Legends (Expansion Submod)

Shokuho: Dreams of Legends is an expansion submod for Shokuho, one of the most refined and ambitious total conversion mods which is known for its uncompromising dedication to historical detail, recreating the atmosphere and everyday life of Japan’s Shokuho era.

While Shokuho focuses heavily on realism and historical accuracy, Shokuho: Dreams of Legends takes a different direction.

The Sengoku period as we recognize it today is shaped not only by historical records and chronicles, but also by centuries of reinterpretation. Edo-period storytelling, kabuki theatre, war tales, illustrated scrolls, and later novels, manga, games, and films transformed historical figures into something larger than life. Heroes and villains, legendary weapons, epic duels, and tragic romances became part of a shared cultural imagination.

This mod seeks to restore those romanticized, exaggerated, and occasionally fantastical elements that were intentionally removed or toned down in the base mod. It is not intended to replace historical accuracy, but to exist alongside it as an alternative experience: one where the Sengoku era feels even more legendary.

• 150+ new helmets (kabuto) and headgears: 102 unique special kabuto, 52 assigned to heroes, 5 to unique wanderers. Most heavily inspired by the Nioh series.
• 45 new jinbaori with different colors and patterns
• 18 new war banners (hata-jirushi) including the Fūrinkazan flag
• 5 legendary yari: Nihongou, Otegine, Tonbokiri, Kaishi-yunoyari, and Ningenmukotsu
• 3 unique war fans (uchiwa) including the Fūrinkazan uchiwa

⚠️ Kabuto already assigned to heroes can only be acquired through more sinister means:
      Install Better Executions [v24.12.31.1][www.nexusmods.com].
      Please make sure the "drop their gear" option is enabled in mod settings.

• "Fixed" female faces: 8 unique makeup skins, wearable as shoulder armor or head armor
• 23 new kimono for female characters
• 13 new samurai casual outfits (kataginubakama & doubuku)
• 6 new "shields on the back": Sashimono, furoshiki… and even a lost child
• 4 new commoner outfits
• 4 new monk outfits
• Notables, wanderers, and children now wear commoner clothing

🎮 Using makeup as shoulder armor only is highly recommended, as characters hide their head armor in the encyclopedia.

⚠️ Some makeup may still cause clipping on characters with larger faces or non-bald hair cut.

👉 Detailed Character Creation [v1.5.8.189] is recommended for adjusting face size or hairstyles when necessary.

🎮 Step into the world as any hero you choose with Start as Anyone [v1.0.2.1][www.nexusmods.com] installed.

⚠️ With the increased number of clans, late-game performance may degrade.

👉 Injuries And Diseases [v1.1.1.1][www.nexusmods.com] is recommended to increase death rate and gradually thin out excess lords and clans.

• Newly added over-powered opponents in duels with special rewards

⚔️ Defeating them is one of the few ways to obtain certain unique kabuto.

• Removes 10 aged-up "future" wanderers:
  Katō Toranosuke, Ōtani Yoshimatsu, Ishida Sakichi, Izumo no Okuni, Nagoya Sansaburo… and more
• Removes Oda Nobunaga’s near-fantastical Nanban armor set
• Removes the gilded sun tatemono from Kinoshita Hideyoshi’s kabuto
• Ii Naotora remains a male lord
