2021 map with every military formation placed according to 2021 data, foreign bases, APS sites, cartels, and hundreds of events that happened between 2021 and 2025 plus some more potential events, tied in with News Events.

2021-GCR Unit Overhaul 5.0 – Rise of the IR
Loosely based off the World War III series of books by James Rosone and Miranda Watson. This sandbox features everything from the normal 2021-GCR Unit Overhaul plus so much more! This is a decade long lead up to a 2030s style Red Dawn with all the backstory. It plays out very much like a combo of the 1936 sandbox and 1949 Cold war sandbox with over a thousand lines of events and news items that were written to give this alt history a rich lore with many interesting twists and a new challenge.
For the best experience, it is strongly recommended to use the following game settings:
• Allow Nuclear Weapons: OFF
• Diplomatic Merchant Marine: OFF
• Colonies Keep Military Colonies: ON
• World Volatility: NONE
These settings are essential to ensure proper balance and to experience the mod as it was intended to be played.
There is likely to be a bit of chug at the start with all of the units placed, the ai will send most to the nearest barracks within a couple of days.
Please note that this mod is not optimized for fast-paced gameplay. It is intentionally designed as a deep, immersive, chess-like experience, meant to be played thoughtfully across multiple strategic layers rather than rushed.

This mod takes Supreme Ruler Ultimate in a new direction, with the goal of appealing to the turn-based grand strategy audience—the same players drawn to highly detailed titles such as Gary Grigsby’s War in the East, the Decisive Campaigns series, Flashpoint Campaigns, and even Command: Modern Operations.
The gameplay emphasizes a slow, deliberate pace. You are expected to pause often and maneuver battalions, brigades, and divisions like chess pieces. Nearly any multi-domain warfare scenario can be simulated, but unlike most of the games mentioned above—which focus on single theaters—this mod allows the entire world to be played as one interconnected battlefield.
For example, a China–Taiwan conflict can be fully modeled using every available resource in the Pacific Theater, while simultaneously managing logistics, the economy, research, and political maneuvering. On the opposite end of the spectrum, you can even play as a Mexican cartel, cooperating or competing with rival cartels in multiplayer.
With the addition of historically placed military structures for nearly every major and minor nation, the AI performs surprisingly well—especially when the player approaches the game with realistic strategies and expectations.

    Features of this update:

    Dozens of new unit images by Nerei, Sgt.Scuba, Mooning, and the modding team from Armored Brigade II A World Ablaze Modern-Day Mod. The Rise of the Islamic Republic sandbox. Several new units, updates, and fixes. Updated AIparams. Mooning’s Intelligence-Suite. (See workshop folder). See change log for complete list of updates.

    Every country on the 2021 map is now completely modeled with accurate military structures and placement of forces, and experience on the map.
    Introduction of actual Military Force Structure:

    Actual brigades, divisions, corps, armies, air wings, carrier strike groups and other military forces have been placed in approximate locations for every country on the 2021 map. The AI will more likely reserve these at the nearest barracks or air base. However at least these force concentrations will be somewhat accurate if the player attacks these countries. The player can battle group these forces at immediate start, just lock your defense minister before you unpause. I have included Military Force Structure Organizers in the Casual Reading folder to help with this.
    In addition, these forces are given experience according to training level and recent experience. Unique differences between highly trained Active Western forces and forces that rely heavily on a conscript system. This provides more character depth and connection to your forces and hurts if you lose them.
    All in all, there is much more realism and tactical immersion. No more moving meaningless blobs around the map!
