Ultra Historical Companies is the neinth mod of the Ultra Historical mod series.
Highly recommanded to be played along More Unique Companies Mod.
All the changes are also applied to the companies added by this excellent mod, along a french translation.
- Removed everything that added companies slots.
- Replaced it by free company charters, companies throughput/construction bonus.
- By default number of companies slots is 10 from the start. This total is modified by country rank up to 50 slots.
- Reduced a lot base company throughput/construction bonus.
- Reduced the prosperity effects accross the board.
- Edited company list interface so it does not show a list of empty company slots
- Nuked the extra Birth Rate from company prosperity. Now replaced by mortality reduction from wealth.
The intend here is to get rid of the somewhat artificial number limit of companies slots.
In Vanilla, companies are used as a way to specialize countries, but this feels gamey and clearly not representative of the historical impact of companies.
Also, the few available companies are way too impactful with both their throughput bonus and their prosperity bonus.
So, the mod basicaly uncap the number of companies available but make them individualy less powerful. The prosperity of companies will be naturally softcapped by the different goods in game. For exemple, it is unlikely you manage to get more than one prosperous company exploiting only coal.
The specialization and flavour given by companies can be brought by playing More Unique Companies along this mod. Everything has been rebalanced to fit the mod’s intends and I translated it to french.
Lastly, the Birth Rate bonuses from companies prosperity have been removed since it makes very little sense in terms of immersion and is definitly way too strong. It has been replaced by the more logical mortality reduction from wealth, more appropriate for food-based companies.
