Rise of the Empire Submod [v1.0.11]
STEAMMOD=3447786229 STEAMMOD=1397421866
Version: 1.0.11 for AOTR 2.11.9
"The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear."
Play a structured Empire campaign spanning from the aftermath of Order 66 to the fall of the Empire after the battle of Endor. This submod aims to turn Awakening of the Rebellion into an Empire focused linear story, naturally flowing through the early days of the Imperial rule, through various technological advancements and story missions plucked from canon and legends. Start with Venators, Clone troopers and the remains of the Republic and build your own Empire.
The Rebellion do not start as an equal foe in this submod, they progress from disorganised cells and insurgency spreading through the galaxy, slowly becoming the Alliance and later the New Republic.
The early campaign threat is from the CIS Remnants, forced back into the outer rim, they fight as a more conventional opponent, fighting with Clone Wars era tech which can be tough to break down early campaign until the Victory and Imperial class warship programs come online. Imperial propaganda framed the CIS as a defeated enemy, but they would beg to differ.
Independent planets that haven’t adopted Imperial occupation will also need to be conquered. These planets aren’t in open rebellion but their planetary defence forces mean they will hang on to their sovereignty for as long as they can. They will need to be conviced, by force, to join the new Empire.
The core of this submod is story. Follow the key events of the Empire from early 19bby missions through to the full Original Trilogy and beyond. We have opted to pick an overall story from multiple sources, so expect to see missions from the movies, from TV shows, comics and even other games! We’ve tried to tell a single narrative that will lead nicely into the events of the mainline movies, with some slight revisions to better align with the scale and gameplay of Empire at War. Heroes, technology, ships and ground units are tied to this story with Clones being phased out over time and new doctrines requiring a new style of warship.
To fully immerse in our campaign we have opted to focus entirely on the Empire as a playable faction only, with other factions being tailored to play their roles as AI antagonists only.
The new campaign has 3 starting points:
– 19BBY – Straight after order 66
– 0BBY – Straight after the Battle of Scarif
– 4ABY – After the main campaign (Sandbox)
Each starting point is just a different checkpoint of one continuous campaign, i.e jump ahead to 0BBY or play from 19BBY right through to 4ABY.
We have built out our campaign framework so we can add new stories within the main story as we go, we have big plans for more spin off missions in the future!
– Story driven campaign
– 51 Story missions
– New maps
– New models for existing units
– New shaders and lighting
– CIS Remnant Faction
– New Empire heroes
– New custom AI profiles for AI factions
– Warlord factions

Whilst we do everything we can to avoid bugs, there may be bugs in this release, we will do what we can to patch these but please note the game engine bakes the story files into save games, so any story mission bugs will require a new save to apply the fix.

How do I build more clones?
Clones have already begun being phased out as the campaign begins. The Emperor has made it clear new soldiers should be recruited through conscription rather than cloning. Make the most of the Clone troopers you have left as they slowly fade into the ranks of the Stormtroopers.
How do I build ISDs?
In one of our main deviations from Disney canon, the ISD program (Imperial Star Destroyer) is still in development during the early years of the Empire. As you progress the story timeline new technology will become available and older hardware will quickly become obsolete.
My game froze after a mission dialog?
This probably means a video just started but if you are playing at fast forward speed the game sometimes fails to start the video, either hit ESC key or click on the play / pause GC button and the video will be either skipped or will now start.
Will this be updated when AOTR 3.0 comes out?
Yes, we plan to update the mod once AOTR comes out, but until we get our hands on it we don’t know what changes will be required
More will be added as we receive more questions!

Thanks for even considering giving this submod a go. It’s been a lot of hard work from the entire team to get this submod over the line. We’ve had a solid vision of where we wanted to go with this submod and with the release of v1 we’ve finally achieved this, with lots more planned to build on.
Thanks for checking out our submod, we hope you will enjoy it!
