Eastern Roman Great Projects
UPDATED FOR 1.19.0.6 (latest game version)
The weight of centuries presses down upon the Eagle’s wings. The Roman Empire, though still the envy of the world, is beset by enemies from all sides and decay from within. Its legendary walls crumble, its ancient roads fracture, and its heartlands lie exposed to the wolves at the gate. Mere survival is not enough. To endure, the Empire must be rebuilt, refortified, and reborn in fire and stone.
This mod introduces a host of new, deeply immersive challenges and strategic opportunities for the Byzantine Empire, centered around a series of unique Great Projects and dynamic, narrative-driven events. It is a test of your treasury, your armies, and your will to rule.
Invest your wealth and foresight into monumental Great Projects designed to restore the Empire’s failing infrastructure and secure its most vulnerable frontiers.
-
Theodosian Walls Maintenance
The legendary fortifications that defied Huns and Arabs are not a magical barrier; they require constant upkeep. This Great Project simulates the vital maintenance for the Theodosian Walls, preventing their decay and ensuring they stand firm to repel even the mightiest sieges. Neglect spells ruin.
-
Restore and Improve Imperial Roads
The Via Egnatia and Via Militaris are the arteries of Roman power in the Balkans. Commission elite engineers to restore their foundations and improve their reach. Rebuilt roads allow for safer travel, more efficient supply, and greater control over your restless provinces.
-
Fortify the Aegean Coast
With Crete lost to a pirate Emirate, Imperial coastlines are defenseless against relentless plunder. Undertake this monumental defense project to build a network of watchtowers and naval bases, reclaiming the security of the seas and ensuring the Empire’s vital islands remain beyond the reach of the corsair’s torch.
-
Fortify the Eastern Frontier
The East is bleeding. Relentless raids have shattered Anatolia, Armenia, Pontus, and Syria. Through four unique Great Projects, you can commit your treasury to a series of monumental defensive works designed to neutralize threats, restore regional stability, and reclaim the lost prosperity of the Imperial heartland.
-
Mount Athos Aid
Sustain the spiritual soul of the Empire. Support the Holy Mountain through targeted aid, ensuring the safety and longevity of its ancient monasteries. This project preserves the peace of Mount Athos, strengthening the bond between the throne and the Orthodox world.
-
The Pecheneg Invasion
Brace for a nomadic apocalypse. When the tribes unite, a devastating Pecheneg horde will thunder across the Danube, putting your armies and your leadership to the ultimate test in a realm-defining war for survival.
-
The Great Slavic Revolt
Whispers of sedition echo through the Balkans. As Georgi Vojteh and Konstantin Bodin conspire to resurrect the Bulgarian Tsardom, you must use every diplomatic and clandestine resource to pacify the region before these sparks of rebellion ignite a catastrophic fire.
-
The Paulician Heresy
From the fortress of Tephrice, the "Golden-hand" leads a defiant new realm against Imperial decree. Launch a military campaign to crush this insurrection, followed by a grand resettlement project to dismantle their strongholds and restore the light of Orthodoxy to the frontier.

And much more….

- Low-Impact & High-Compatibility: This mod is designed with a low footprint. No Very few vanilla files are modified. All features are added in such a way to prevent conflicts and ensure maximum compatibility with other mods.
- Great Project Framework: This mod uses the core Great Projects system. It is compatible with any mod that does not fundamentally overhaul or disable this game feature.
- Economic Balance: Project and event costs are balanced around standard vanilla game values. If you use a major overhaul that radically changes the global economy, these costs may feel disproportionate.
IMPORTANT: Save Game InformationWhile this mod will not crash an existing save, A NEW GAME IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.Many of the key projects, decisions, and event chains are initialized at the start of a new campaign. Loading this mod into an ongoing playthrough may cause these features to be missing or to not function correctly.
