Iron Mines (1.1 Beta Tool Shortage Fix)
The economy in 1.1.* is broken because of a lack of iron, adding in more accessible iron mine buildings prevents an endless tool shortage spiral that crashes the economy.
Adds iron mine buildings to mountain, plateau, and hill locations and are available to any nation with the Iron Working advance. Includes a standard production method requiring tools, lumber, and coal, and a crude variant needing only lumber and stone at reduced output.
This mod is safe to add to existing games and can be removed at any time. It should be cross compatible with any other mods but must be loaded after any that replace the Iron Working advance.
Yes, estates and AI build them and yes, this completely fixes the building stagnation from lack of iron/tools in the 1.1 Beta. Lumber is a bit questionable still so I’ve linked another mod that handles that issue.
Februrary 7, Iron Mines 1.1 update:
Production Methods changed to be more in line with other RGO buildings. Outputs remain the same. If you were already using the mod you should notice an increase in demand of coal which should be met by unprofitable charcoal kilns being reenabled.
Iron Mine Maintenance:
From: 0.1 tools + 0.12 lumber + 0.1 coal -> 0.75 iron
To: 0.25 tools + 0.3 lumber + 0.25 coal -> 0.75 iron
Crude Iron Mine Maintenance:
From: 0.28 lumber -> 0.5 iron
To: 0.4 lumber + 0.75 stone -> 0.75 iron
Check out my other mod to also fix lumber production:
