My reasoning for making this mod

It has always bothered me that Wood Elves kill each other with friendly fire. In my view of the lore, the Asrai are effectively immortal beings with millennia to perfect their craft which is (obviously) Archery.

Think about this: the Asrai realistically have trained for centuries, and probably have learned every trick there is to learn when it comes to bowcraft. In their lore it even states they can shoot through a visor slit in a helmet from 100’s of feet away.

In my headcannon this means they shouldn’t be loosing arrows blindly into their own kin even in the heat of battle. This mod corrects that.

Global Unit Changes

Friendly fire has been removed from all Wood Elf ranged units, Lords, and Heroes (including Sisters of the Thorn). If an Asrai looses an arrow, it will never kill their own.

Accuracy values have also been slightly adjusted across the board to better reflect elite elven marksmanship.

Unit Adjustments

Glade Guard – True Hybrid Archers

The Glade Guard have a snippet of lore in their description that states "The definitive Wood Elf warriors within the armies of Athel Loren." So I made sure they’re now a core unit beyond just being average archers.

They have better melee stats (attack and defense) along with a baseline of 70 leadership, now designed to function as reliable hybrid units. They won’t outperform other units in melee, but they can hold their own better now when engaged.

Glade Guard now better reflect lore descriptions of adaptable forest warriors rather than fragile backline units.

Deepwood Scouts – Dedicated Archer Role

Deepwood Scouts are often outshined by Glade Guard due to them not really providing much more in the way of versatility, leaving them often skipped over. So I made them the more "archer-focused" units, giving them increased ammunition.

Waywatchers – Elite Combat Archers

I found it annoying that the Wood Elves (the faction known for its archers) had their top tier archers outclassed by the Sisters of Avelorn (stat-wise). To address this, Waywatchers have been brought more in line with their High Elf counterparts, gaining increased attack and defense that match up with the Sisters.

In addition to all of these changes I changed the Glade guard and Waywatcher unit type icons to the shade icons to show they’re a hybrid missile unit (until i figure out a better solution or a way to make a custom icon)

Other Notes

This mod edits the "Land_Unit_Tables, Main_Unit_Tables, and Projectile_Tables", If your troops are still killing one-another with friendly fire, another mod is overwriting this mod. (I tested this in game and noticed this happening with another mod I had enabled so make sure you know what your mods are doing)

You may still see arrows "hitting" your troops but they wont deal damage, this is just how the game works and I cannot change this.
