Description:
Peleset of the Aegean

This mod transforms the Peleset faction from "Sea Wanderers" to the "Achaean" culture. This change was surprisingly complex, but it allows the Peleset to confederate with all Greek Achaean factions, while they can no longer confederate with other Sea Peoples factions.

Regarding the Sea Peoples, you’ll still have access to the original Peleset gods, while also being able to worship any Greek god from the very first turn.

Why Change the Peleset’s Culture?

Changing the Peleset’s culture to "Achaean" isn’t just about gameplay variety—there’s a historical rationale behind it too. The Peleset are widely believed to be one of the Sea Peoples, who were seafaring raiders and settlers during the late Bronze Age. Many historians speculate that the Peleset might have origins connected to the Mycenaean Greeks or at least had significant interactions with them.

By assigning them to the Achaean culture, this mod aims to reflect these possible historical ties, enriching the game’s narrative by aligning the Peleset with other Greek factions. It also adds depth to their gameplay, allowing players to explore a different facet of their identity, one that ties them more closely to the broader Greek world.

So while it might not be a universally accepted historical fact, the change is grounded in plausible historical theory and adds a unique twist to the Peleset’s role in the game.

UPDATES:

8/19/2024

I’ve fixed a bug that caused general units to function incorrectly when equipped with certain ancillaries. Previously, swapping weapons, armor, or shields could result in your general unit being downgraded to a tier 2 unit. This issue has now been resolved.

Additionally, I’ve addressed a bug that prevented the construction of ‘Garrison’ buildings in cities across Greece and a few other areas. This should now be fixed.

8/17/2024

I’ve released an update that addresses some significant issues with buildings and outposts. While initially working on this mod, I was still learning, but I’ve gained much more knowledge since then. As a result, I’ve revisited and corrected these elements.

You may need to deconstruct and rebuild some outposts or buildings, but there should be no issues requiring you to start a new game.
