Description:

This mod increases the Zone of Control for armies (on land and naval), settlements and forts.

In my opinion, this helps avoid one of the game’s infuriating aspects of enemy armies just zipping past your units to hit the weak points, especially for a turn-based game as this, where you can’t react.

Armies and settlements have more presence and you can now effectively create chokepoints, if carefully positioning your army (on encamp for example), or build forts in strategic locations.

This allows for more strategic play, positioning, build up of key regions to deter incursions. Hopefully no more 20 stack armies sneaking past your 20 stack army to sack your shrine outpost.

On the flip side, this does make island settlements with forts and forts within the ZoC of settlements harder to capture, as well as ambushes dangerous (making Lookout Points more useful/competitive).

I only changed 3 entries in the table campaign_variables, so it’s pretty straightforward.

(i.e. zone_of_control_land_radius; zone_of_control_naval_radius; brige_battle_detection_path_distance – all to twice their initial values)

I’m not sure about compatibilities, but should be pretty harmless I’d reckon.

I just made this for myself, but open to feedback.
