Eldritch Portals
This mod adds new custom events that will cause portals to spawn on random empty squares. These portals periodically spawn horrors and at set turn numbers will have a chance to "grow" to a new type of portal that can spawn even stronger horrors. The portals have a chance of shrinking back to a smaller size or closing entirely when owned by a player faction. Though dangerous monsters emerge from the portals, these places of power are attractive to magic users and count as libraries. This mod should be enabled if a game where horrors are a more consistent threat, and alternative ways to access magic libraries is desired. I would recommend using this with my, "No Void Portals" and/or "No Planar Invasions" mod, so that this does not compound with default horror spawning and events and become too tedious.
Details
At game start, 1 "rift in reality" will spawn on a random square with a few soultorns.
Every turn there is a 2% chance a new rift will open on a random empty square.
A "rift in reality" counts as 1 library and can be owned by any class. When the rift is owned by a player it has a 5% chance to close every turn. At the middle month of every season there is a roughly 15% chance that the rift will spawn a number of lesser horrors. There are multiple "rolls" so occasionally this may spawn multiple types of horrors.
After turn 50 any "rift in reality" not owned by a player faction has an additional 2% chance each turn to become an, "Eldritch Portal". The "Eldritch Portal" counts as 2 libraries and when owned by a player has a 5% chance each turn to revert back to a "rift in reality". At the middle month of every season there is a roughly 27% chance that the portal will spawn a number of lesser and greater horrors.
After turn 100 any "Eldritch Portal" not owned by a player faction has an additional 2% chance each turn to become a, "Yawning Chasm". The "Yawning Chasm" counts as 3 libraries (yes they can be used to promote wizards to a level 3 caster) and when owned by a player has a 5% chance each turn to revert back to an "Eldritch Portal". At the middle month of every season there is a roughly 27% chance that the chasm will spawn a number of lesser and greater horrors. Separately there is a 12% chance that a chasm will spawn a very powerful horror. This will only occur once per game.

The Demonologist, Witch, and High Cultist factions now have a new one time use level 3 ritual that can only be used on a "Yawning Chasm". The idea with this addition was to give a few factions additional mechanics revolving around the portals, and also add a new game play element to the factions with "unpredictable summons" in the form of rare opportunities to get a 100% certain summoning.
