Real Calories and Nutrients Overhaul
✅ Note: The canned food bug, which started with the 42.6 update, has already been FIXED! Only newly spawned loot affected.
✅ Note 2: Due to numerous unexpected bugs caused by recent game updates, mod updates are on hold until a stable version is available. Updates will only be released to fix critical bugs.
🍗 Realistic Food Calories and Nutrients Overhaul!
🍽️ Around 400 food items now have calorie values based on real-world nutrition and weight. Say goodbye to absurd calorie counts and hello to a more balanced apocalypse!
🥔✔️ Potatoes now pack more energy than cabbage – just like in real life!
🐔❌ No more devouring seven whole chickens just to meet your daily calorie needs.
⚠️ The mod is still in testing (with promising results), but keep an eye on your weight! Some things may change drastically, as Zomboid’s nutrition system is quite odd. I’m working to find the best balance between realism and gameplay.
Compatibility
- Build 42 compatible.
- Safe to be added to your current save game. However, only new items will be affected.
- Compatible with other mods as long as they do not change the calories, nutrients or weight of vanilla items.
- Compatible with Sapph’s Cooking, which seems to have already done an excellent job of rebalancing calories
- Compatible with Long Term Preservation [B42].
Notes
- Keep in mind that Zomboid’s nutrition system, food recipes, food weight, hunger balance, and calorie values are quite odd. Because of that, it’s impossible to make food 100% realistic without throwing gameplay balance out the window! My goal is to bring food as close to reality as possible without breaking the game.
- This is one of the first versions, and a balance pass is still needed! Feel free to report anything that seems seriously wrong or missing.
- Due to the frequent game updates (as it is still in the unstable phase), some bugs may occur when new updates are released. But I’m always keeping an eye on it and making the necessary adjustments whenever I have time. Thank you!
