Description:

This mod combines my "Danymok’s Vanilla Expansion" with a modified version of the Mundus Magnus 1.4 map. Alltogether, this mod adds 15 new factions to the game, over 160 new units to the base game factions, and a new map that expands the map east into the Indus, north into Caledonia, and south into Ethiopia and Arabia, which should make the game feel fresh and exciting while also retaining a lot of the vanilla feel of the original game. Also, this expanded map now gives me more room to add even more factions… Keep an eye out for future updates.

New Factions

Each of these factions were made with care so they fit the look of the vanilla game and feel unique. Every new faction has a detailed unit roster that fits the culture of that faction and feels different from every other faction in the game. And you may notice some of the banners look similar to their Rome 2 Total War counterparts (such as Pergamon’s) but I did not directly take the designs from Rome 2, I remade them to fit the Rome Remastered textures. Another big change with the factions is that the vanilla "Greek Cities" faction has been split apart into multiple Greek states, and the "Greek Cities" faction itself has been converted into Rhodes, with an updated roster and start location to fit its new identity.

Also, I want to note here that Sparta works in a unique way; their citizen units are super strong for their tier, but they can only be trained in Sparta, while the rest of the map can only train helot/Perioikoi units, to represent the fact that Sparta’s citizen force was small and only recruited from Sparta, as well as balance Sparta’s otherwise super strong roster.

New Units

Combined, the 15 new factions contain 315 units, and as previously mentioned, this mod also has my "Rosters Expanded" mod built into it, adding another 165 units to the base game factions, so even the vanilla factions get a new makeover. Every one of these new units have 3D rendered UI cards that fit the style of the vanilla game, as well as properly colored unit textures that are consistent with their faction and the style of the vanilla game.

This specific mod also adds 2 Indian mercenary units, since the map was expanded east to include parts of India. They are Mercenary Indian Spearmen, a basic spear levy unit, and Mercenary Indian Elephants, powerful beasts painted with ornate colors, making them look more impressive and dazzling than the elephants found across the rest of the map.

Expanded Map

This mod uses the Mundus Magnus map, and on top of that, I made a lot of adjustments to the borders and added more regions to fit the new factions and make sparse regions more lively. The new map now expands the borders east to include parts of India, north to include all of Caledonia, and south to include parts of Ethiopia and the entire Arabian Peninsula. I also made a new radar/minimap image that should look sharper and more like the vanilla map, as well as new starting position maps on the campaign menu screen. Perhaps most importantly, I made a unit_variation.txt file, which will give all the new regions proper unit variation depending on where they are recruited.

AN IMPORTANT NOTE is that this mod will not work well if your graphics color scheme is set to vibrant. The new unit textures won’t match well, some of the units will be using the wrong textures, and the UI cards for the new units will be the default grey peasants. This is an issue with the game engine, so I can’t really do much about it. So just use the realistic unit color scheme!

PLEASE let me know if there are any problems/bugs with the mod, such as missing textures, not being able to train units in the campaign, issues with the map, or anything else, so I can get to fixing it. Most likely, issues would be caused by me porting over the Mundus Magnus map, so I would appreciate if you pay extra attention to issues or any crashes caused by the Mundus Magnus expanded map.

Thanks for checking out this mod, hope you guys enjoy it! I would appreciate a thumbs up 🙂

You can join the Rome Total War modding community Discord[discord.gg] if you are interested in seeing what I am currently working on (my channel is "#danymoks_workshop"). Since I am now using an expanded map, I have room to add more factions, so you can join the Discord to give suggestions or see progress on my work on these new factions and units.

Modding Resource

Anyone is allowed to use or modify the contents in this mod to create their own mods/creations, I always enjoy seeing cool mods on the Rome Remastered Workshop and I’d be happy for my stuff to contribute to that in any way. Of course, just make sure to leave credit where credit is due!
