Spark – Plating and Launcher Slots
This is a simple SPARK buff mod that adds two new inventory slots to all SPARKS: a Plating slot and a Launcher slot. It’s exactly what it says on the tin.
The plating slot can equip any of the LW2 Plating utility items and gives SPARKS a buff to their both their survivability and reduces the amount of time they spend repairing from taking minor hits.
The launcher slot allows the SPARK to equip any of RealityMachina’s SPARK Launchers in it for some extra versatility.
This mod has some config options to let you equip the Ordnance Launcher in the new inventory slot. Currently, however, you cannot fire rockets (from Iridar’s Rocket Launchers) using an Ordnance Launcher equipped in any slot but the secondary weapon slot. Grenades will work, just not firing rockets. Keep that in mind when making load outs for your SPARKs.
It’s due to some hard-coding in the Rocket Launchers mod itself. Iridar is aware of the issue, but it’s not high on his list of things to do at the moment. Please don’t bug him about it. Or me, for that matter.
To be honest, this is something I had basically done three’ish years ago, but never published it. I just took it, cleaned up the code (cribbing heavily from WoTC Vest Slot then and now) and published it now because… well, why not? Maybe someone will find it useful or fun even in a world of Mechatronic and SPARK Arsenal :V
- Iridar’s Defensive Items Overhaul – Compatible. SPARKs get a Vest and Plating slot, giving them basically double the ablative HP. Might be a bit much, but hey, that’s your choice! (and you can easily disable one of the slots through config files)
- Iridar’s SPARK Arsenal – Compatible. This mod includes some config lines that are commented out that can be used to switch the ordnance launchers to be equipped in the new launcher slot instead of as a secondary weapon. Check XComOrdnanceLauncher.ini and XComSparkLauncherSlot.ini
- Note: it is absolutely necessary that you uncomment the lines in both XComOrdnanceLauncher.ini and XComSparkLauncherSlot.ini. Otherwise you’ll either not be able to equip the launchers in the Launcher slot or won’t get the two grenade-only slots granted by the ordnance launchers. CHECK BOTH CONFIG FILES BEFORE SAYING IT DOESN’T WORK
- Mechatronic Warfare – Absolutely compatible. This mod doesn’t touch the SPARK class at all, just adds two new inventory slots.
- Metal over Flesh Redux – This mod does nothing to prevent you from equipping two launchers at once, but otherwise these mods won’t conflict at all.
- ALL OF THE ABOVE AT ONCE – Goodness! The poor robot that has to carry all that equipment and those upgrades! Don’t you feel sorry for it? 🙁 Yes it works.[i.imgur.com]
- MEC Troopers – MECs should be configured to get a plating and launcher slot just like SPARKs.
- Augmentations – Okay, not a SPARK mod, but there’s some commented out lines that will let any soldier that has a Torso augment gain a Plating slot instead of a Vest Slot. Check XComVestSlot.ini and XComPlatingSlot.ini.
- Other SPARK Mods – Likely compatible, but not tested. Mods that add new SPARK classes are doubly untested.
- RPG Overhaul – Does RPG Overhaul even touch sparks?
- LWOTC – I dunno. You try it and tell me. Not supported in any case.
- Inventory Slots Used – eInvSlot_Plating and eInvSlot_SparkLauncher.
