Sensible Diplomatic Play Interventions
Tired of watching AI countries throw themselves into hopeless wars or form bizarre alliances across the globe? This mod reworks the diplomatic support logic to make AI interventions far more grounded, strategic, and believable.
Smarter War Support Decisions by the AI
- AI weighs rivalry, infamy, territorial claims, and economic interests before backing a side.
- Countries are less likely to support targets that are bankrupt, revolutionary, or subjects of another power.
- Infamy penalties scale sensibly: notorious and pariah states will struggle to find allies.
Geographic Realism
- Nations are far less likely to join alliances or defensive pacts if they lack geographic proximity.
- AI avoids supporting wars it cannot realistically reach (no more landlocked minors pledging support in overseas conflicts).
Political & Cultural Alignment
- Shared culture increases support, while cultural closeness to the enemy reduces it.
- Hostile diplomatic pacts (embargoes, reparations, humiliation, separatism) push AI toward intervention.
Isolationist Tendencies
- Lower-ranked powers are less attractive allies.
- Trade laws, low legitimacy, and weak army models reduce willingness to join wars.
This mod makes diplomacy feel more plausible and immersive. Great powers won’t blindly intervene in distant conflicts, minor states won’t recklessly back doomed allies, and alliances will form along logical cultural and geographic lines. Expect fewer nonsensical global entanglements and more regionally grounded rivalries.
