Smoother De Jure Borders
This mod shuffles de Jure borders for certain counties and duchies, to achieve more aesthetically pleasing borders all around.
Regions the mod touches are:
– Iberia (Borders of the Kingdom of Aragon, Andalusian duchies).
– Italy (Borders follow the Po river and the Apennines).
– Rhine (Smoother Flanders and Brabant, Rhine border).
– Balkans (Smoother Bulgarian Borders, Illyrian borders following the Danube).
– Anatolia (Smoother Rum and Nicene Borders, Armenian borders).
– Middle East (Roman Levant and Egypt borders, Hejaz, coastal Bahrain).
– Maghreb (Roman Africa and Mauritania, Smoother borders around Fezzan and Sous).
– Baltics (Teutonic borders)
– And probably a few more I did that I can’t remember.
The mod also changes certain titles’ colours. This is a personal choice, as I believe they look somewhat better that the devs’ choice.
Inspired from great mods like The Fallen Eagle, Ibn Battuta’s Legacy and Smooth Borders for certain county borders. I intend to move some baronies around other major rivers for rivers borders, feel free to suggest any and I’ll take a look at it.
Compatibility:
This mod is built with compatibility in mind. It adds no new titles, and all counties have defined cultures and religions after the de jure switch. This means it *should* in theory be compatible with all mods that don’t touch mapdata/provinces.png and common/landed_titles/00_landed_titles.txt.
I personally use it with the Expanded Series and RICE, with no issues. Although you might need to delete some mods’ 00_landed_titles.txt in case you have a crash.
Loading the mod somewhere near the end of your load order is preferable in case you absolutely want the new borders in your game when other mods also change the de Jure make up of the game.
Savegame compatible, although changes to duchies and higher don’t apply on old save games, only county (barony switches) ones do.
Remember to rate the mod so that it may reach more poor souls tortured by that Theodosian border!
