Great Power Score & Regional Hegemony Overhaul
[Background & Original Intent] This project was initially developed by the author for personal use. After experiencing the regional systems in Continental Hegemonies, the author felt that continental-only hegemony lacked geopolitical nuance, leading to the idea of re-imagining hegemonies through a more strategic lens.
To create a more inclusive Great Power competition, I previously explored Great Power Score Rebalance (GPSR). However, testing revealed that its offset square root function only saw diminishing returns below vanilla levels at extremely high scores, causing significant early-game inflation. Furthermore, the navy/army tradition mechanics allowed small nations to farm scores through constant conflict. This mod was created to address these issues by overhauling both the hegemony regions and the scoring system itself.
[Core Changes]
Five Strategic Regional Hegemonies: Moving beyond rigid continents, the world is now divided into five geopolitical regions: Mediterranean & Western-Central Europe, Indian Ocean Basin, Northeast European Steppes, East Asia & Pacific, and Sub-Saharan Africa & the Americas.
Hybrid Economic Revenue Model: Tax Base, Merchant Capacity, and Trade Revenue now utilize a hybrid of "linear" and "offset square root" functions, ensuring a balance between early-game scaling and late-game stability.
Dynamic Era-Based Military Scoring: Similarly using a hybrid model, military weight dynamically shifts from levies to regular armies as eras progress, emphasizing the rise of professional standing armies.
Precision Balance Adjustments:
Ranks: Empire (50), Kingdom (30), Duchy (10), HRE Emperor (50).
Modifiers: Prestige, Legitimacy, and Stability capped at +10 points.
Refined Scaling: Fortress weight reduced to 0.1. Army/Naval Traditions now capped at +25 to prevent "tradition farming" exploits. For embraced institutions, I changed the vanilla score of +10 per institution to +5.
Power Projection and Subjects:Inspired by Project Variety, but rebalanced for realism. Power Projection is set to +2 per point (correcting the inflated +10 in the original mod). The score extraction ratio from subjects is unified to 2/5 of the vanilla value. Added subject_modifier (buffs) to subjects. A subject’s Great Power score is first deducted by the vanilla extraction ratio (multiplied by 1 – original ratio) before the overlord extracts its share.(The correction for the direct deduction penalty from subject extraction needs to be checked in the "Statistics Modifiers" under the Great Power Score Modifiers section; it will not be displayed when hovering the mouse over the country rank number.)
[Localization Support] This mod fully supports Simplified Chinese and English localizations.
