Description:
Well… $#!?… they actually do something now

So what is this addon all about?

NPCs are now smarter(kind of).

– NPCs now have a set chance to spawn with a Secondary weapon(25% for Rebels, 30% for Metropolice, 40% for Combine Soldiers) and a 5% chance for a Tertiary(third) weapon.
– NPCs will now switch weapons depending on the situation.
– NPCs will pick up weapons to put in their holsters or switch to them.
– NPCs will now pick up health items, batteries and ammo items.

The world is a big hunt!

– You can shoot down NPCs with loot and get them for yourself, like the greedy b!#?h you are!
– NPCs will loot dead bodies for stronger weapons and items.
– Balanced for optimization and realism(because that’s what you care about!)

"What is the plot?"

– Zombies can carry loot with them, think of it as they were once human.
– Some NPCs are special on spawn(Classes)

Classes

Hunter: If a NPC has a Crossbow, they have a 1/3 chance to be a Hunter, they will throw a variety of throwing weapons such as Throwing Knives, Tomahawks, Spikey Balls–
Demolition: If a NPC has a SLAM, they have a 1/3 chance to be a Demolitionist, they will plant proximity mines that detonate when an enemy comes close
Engineer(Rebel Exclusive): If a Rebel has a Bug Bait, they have a 1/3 chance to be an Engineer, they will plant a battery on the ground that calls a Hacked Rollermine for help
Trapper(Rebel Exclusive): If a Rebel has a Crowbar, they have a 1/3 chance to be a Trapper, they will plant ‘caltrops’ which damages and slows down anyone(Except Rebels) that walks on it
Pyro(Soldier Exclusive): If a Combine Soldier has a Grenade, they have a 1/3 chance to be a Pyro, every grenade they throw is an Incendiary Grenade which is both good and bad for them
Mortar Striker(Soldier Exclusive): If a Combine Soldier has a RPG, they have a chance to be a Mortar Striker, every grenade they throw has a chance to be a Mortar Strike which will initiate a small barrage of rockets
Raid Officer(Metropolice Exclusive): If a Metropolice has a Stunstick, they have a 1/5 chance to be a Raid Officer, if they’ve been patrolling for some time without seeing any enemies, he will send out a Scanner and a pack of Manhacks, if he encounters an enemy, he will immediately send out his Scanner and Manhack pack
*More classes coming soon!*

Sabotage

– Watch out when looting a corpse, there might be unwanted consequences.

Honestly, I think you should just play it for yourself and see what’s up.

Some questions that might pop up

This already exists-
– First of all, I am aware that a lot of people are getting into this kind of stuff, but I wanted to bring my own concept of it to life
Why are the chances so low? / Why do they not spawn with ‘x’ all the time? / Why does this and that?
– I want to make NPCs a lot more dynamic in the sense that they… SCAVENGE, but not being ridiculously OP to just kill a dude and get a million ammo or something, there’s balance I wanted to achieve.
<insert typical bug along with a dumb question>
– It’s not perfect, nothing’s perfect, but we’ll get there
I wanna suggest…
– Suggestions are open right now, till I slip on a banana and die.

How to…

You can find everything in Options > NPCSAS

Each Faction(except Zombies and Aliens) has their own loot table, you can assign potential Secondaries or Tertiaries for them when they spawn. (e.g "weapon_pistol, weapon_frag" , separate them by commas, WEAPONS ONLY!).

The Extras section is for the backpack, those items will only drop if the NPC has a backpack. Every NPC(except Zombies and Aliens) has a 50% chance to spawn with a backpack.

Zombies inherit all of the inputs in all of the other NPC tables.

Unfortunately, it only supports HL2 weapons, maybe i’ll add support for other weapons too in the future

Transparency

I want to bring to the community a honest addon, I worked hard on this and probably pulled a lot of hairs, but I want to say that roughly ~60-70% of this addon is AI generated… the ~30-40% is my manual fixes and additions, I respect those who actually spend the time and effort manually coding insane addons, they’re the ones that inspired me to try out addon making but I myself am nothing more than a novice coder that never once touched LUA till I made this addon(…and some past failures). So, be gentle with me people.
