A narrative flavor expansion for CK3AGOT

Of Ash and Oaths is a lightweight narrative event pack for CK3AGOT designed to deepen the everyday life, legacy, and mythic presence of Westeros and Valyria.

From quiet courtly moments to rare displays of Dragonlord power, the goal is simple: make the world feel alive, grounded, and a little terrifying when dragons are involved.

Some events are simple slices of life.
Some are small narrative chains.
And some are those rare moments where the hall goes silent and everyone remembers that a Dragonlord walks among them.

This mod focuses on atmosphere, immersion, and lore-faithful storytelling while remaining fully save-compatible and highly compatible with other AGOT submods.

Spread across multiple character archetypes and life situations:

• Knights — 12 events
• Lords / Rulership — 16 events
• Valyrian Legacy — 12 events
• Dragonriders — 14 events
• Tournaments — 10 events
• Narrative Event Chains — 14 events

Several low-frequency chains add deeper storytelling without interrupting gameplay:

• Being stopped while traveling without flying
• Calling a dragon through the bond
• Reactions scaling based on dragon size and presence

• The quiet fear and reverence of court life around Dragonriders

• How the lists change when a Dragonlord rides into the grounds

• Memory, legacy, and the weight of the Freehold

• Heirs and heiresses learning the burdens of rule

• Moments of honor, doubt, and quiet oaths

The mod aims to feel like ASOIAF, not generic fantasy.

Expect:

• grounded political life
• subtle character development
• atmospheric writing
• moments of dread and awe around dragons

Some events function as what players jokingly call “aura farming”, AKA moments where a Dragonlord simply being present changes the room.

But these are written to feel chilling, ceremonial, and earned. They’re not meant to be ludicrously exaggerated power fantasy.

Of Ash and Oaths is designed to be extremely safe in large modlists.

It does not overwrite:

• bookmarks
• title history
• dragon combat systems
• dragon duel systems
• travel systems
• tournaments
• GUI files
• AGOT scripted GUI frameworks

The mod only adds:

• namespaced events
• namespaced on_actions
• scripted triggers
• scripted effects
• modifiers
• localization

This means it is generally safe for ongoing saves.

Is this save-game compatible?

Yes. The mod only adds new events and scripting layers.

Will it conflict with other AGOT submods?

Very unlikely. It avoids overwriting major systems.

Does it change dragon mechanics?

No. Dragons behave exactly as they do in AGOT.

Does it affect balance?

Only slightly through small prestige, piety, gold, and opinion effects.

Will more events be added?

Yes. The framework was designed to expand easily.
