The Thrumbo Nymph
Your family was travelling through the stars to their new home when it all went wrong. The ship was dead in the water, but there was a planet nearby. Unfortunately, though the escape pod could get there, there wasn’t fuel for a proper landing. Your parents died in the impact, and you, just a small child, were alone.
The Thrumbo watched this small human child weep and wander. You were no stranger to the species and they had always come with guns and fire and steel. Or they came with sweet words and tasty treats, but ropes and chains behind their backs. You should keep wandering, continuing the permanent migration of your species to watch over your world. But this one is different, and you cannot help but watch it. The child is cold, and hungry, and sad. You are lonely too, for your mate was killed by hunters not so long ago. You have wool to keep the human warm, and milk to dull the ache in its belly. You approach it and a bond forms.
You have grown up with your Thrumbo. Your only friend, your only family. You have learned much from it and it has learned much from you. But survival is hard. Others want to hunt your friend, and they will kill you to get to it. You have wandered for years, defending it, and looking for more of its kind, to break the wave of loneliness it feels. You have seen regular signs of other Thrumbos in this area, so you decide to set up a real home and find your new "Tribe". They are on the brink of extinction, and the ones you have met have been wary of your human scent and features, but maybe with your help, they can start anew and rebuild their species.
NOTE: Thrumbo Extention Mod is required for this scenario. I recommend you use Prepare Carefully mod so that you have animal skill of at least 8, or your Thrumbo will likely not stay tame. Additionally, because you only have one person to start with growing, constructing, training, etc, it is recommended that you start in an area where you can harvest berries or agave to feed the Thrumbo for training and taming.
NOTE: Thrumbos eat A LOT. They will eat your crops, they will eat your meals, they will eat trees. This scenario is difficult, especially if you play with winter.
NOTE: I personally play this scenario:
*with taming no other animals besides Thrumbos (either releasing back to wild via mod or butchering any self tamed animals)
*being fairly isolationist with other groups: not actively recruiting/rescuing people and not capturing injured raiders with the intent to recruit. I do allow wanderers to join with the belief they heard of my mission to bring back the Thrumbos and want to help.
