Celtic Levy Upgrade

Hey steam players, total war fans and followers,
I’m proud to release another levy upgrade mod for you. Finally, I’ve managed to improve the main army of all eastern factions in the game. This happens by providing more variation in levy troops on the one hand but powerful upgrades for these troops on the other hand.

• 12 new Celtic unit upgrades
• A huge amount of factions affected
• Garrisons affected by unit upgrades, growing in size and strength
• technologies in 3 different trees got upgrade ability
• Compatible with most other mods, especially with Sebidee’s Unit Roaster Overhaul and my own mods

Research "Tribal Totem" (for Celtic factions) to upgrade your Celtic Warriors in Garrisons and in your current armies into stronger veterans. You’ll be able to recruit normal warriors and veterans as well.

Upgrade for Celtic Skirmishers. They have higher accuracy and melee strength. Furthermore they use clubs with melee bonus against infantry instead of daggers/shortswords.

Upgrad your tribesmen like a mob upgrad via the civil construction tree. A drilled Tribesmen is more a soldier, of course. He is a mix of spear infantry and skirmishers, maybe similar to light peltasts in strength but with spears.

Unfortunally celtic tribes don’t pay heavy armour for the lower class so the "heavy" town guard as 2th tribesmen level only wears leather armour. Don’t worry, they’ll do a good job with their javelins and spears. At least they will increase and strengthen your garrisons.

Upgrade for Celtic Youths. What were Celts doing in their freetime? You’re right… With some javelins and clubs those aggressive young men go where they want.

Second Upgrade for Celtic Youths. A horde means more men and that’s what you get. You’ll also be happy about the axes in their hands.

You can upgrade Galatian Spears and Swords into veteran versions. This upgrade is unlockable for Galatia and Pergamon. Those veterans will replace all the weaker units in garrison as well.

By unlocking "infantry drill", usuallay a late game technolgy, you can upgrade Levy Freemen, Celtic Warriors, Celtic Spear Warriors and Celtic Axe Warriors into drilled versions. With a good drill units fight longer, stay closer and are able to form a shield wall which was an advance for the tactically poor Celts.

Note that not every celtic faction has all these levy units in it’s roaster. You can only upgrade units if you have the old version, hehe.

Compatibility
Made for high compatibility so it should work with most other mods. If you’re using mods thad define new garrison groups they won’t include the upgraded units. Note that this mod is made for vanilla Grand Campaign, Imperator Augustus or Caesar in Gaul. Use it together with overhauls like DEI at your own risk. This mod is made for patch 18. It should work with patch 17 but we have to see if it works for patch 19 too.

Upgrade them all!
This mod is part of several unit mods I released for different factions and cultures to eastablish an upgrade system for basic units. They fit very will together.

Unit Cards
I included vanilla 2d cards for the new units but I didn’t spend much time for them. I really reccomend to use NordoPic for 3D unit cards.

Language Support
Original is in English, of course. German players can use NordoGerman or take the strings from there to their UPC pack file.
