Description:

Better Berries is a simple Rimworld mod designed to add more diversity to berries and to make them more gameplay-relevant.

Overview

I love berries, but I find they aren’t a particularly useful or interesting resource in Rimworld. I wanted to upgrade them into something that keep them relevant and give you an incentive to keep harvesting them while you play.

This is also my first Rimworld mod that I used to learn the ropes of .xml modding. As such, it doesn’t seek to radically change the gameplay or add any extravagant new features, but just maintain a lore-friendly and stable balance. I’m sure there are other mods that do this better and more elaborately, but this one is my shot at it. 🙂

What does it add?
  • Four new types of berry bushes (Cranberries, Raspberries, Blueberries, and Blackberries). These function the same as vanilla berry bushes.
  • Vanilla berries re-branded as "Wildberries".

Berries can be processed into unique products:

  • Berry Juice is a yummy treat that can be crafted by juicing berries at a Cooking Station.
  • Juicing berries also creates Berry Mash as a byproduct. While not particularly nutritional or valuable on its own, it can still be used as an ingredient in cooking meals or for feeding animals.
  • Berry Wine is a valuable good that can be crafted by cooking Berry Juice at a Brewery. It takes a while to prepare, but sells for a higher price than juice.
