In April 1945 the US Ninth Army pushes deep into Westphalia as German command structures collapse.
Lüdenscheid a hilltop city surrounded by forests valleys and scattered suburbs becomes the site of a desperate last stand.
Volkssturm units attempted to force civilians into last minute defensive positions, and anyone suspected of “defeatism” faced execution or arrest.
In several towns across the region some leaders chose to abandon their posts and flee while others overwhelmed by the situation and fearing consequences took their own lives.

This scenario recreates the final hours of a region where authority had evaporated and survival depended on improvisation
