Sam Sheepdog – the stoic shepherd – clocks in to Rivals of Aether!

Sam Sheepdog’s decided to take a day off from guard dog duties to join the fray in Rivals of Aether! Take control of the battlefield with anvils and yarn balls, certain to scare your enemies right into your no-good-sheep-stealer-slapping paws!

Overview

Sam Sheepdog is a slow, bulky brawler who specializes in close-range combat. While he might be slow in the air, his above-average ground speed and fast-moving command grab let him threaten a lot of range. Sam can also occupy more space with a downward-falling anvil and a yarn ball that lets him pull opponents towards him, made even more threatening by freezing their movement with the time clock. Sam’s biggest weaknesses are his large size, slow air speed, exploitable recovery, and some below-average frame data on his larger options.

Neutral Special – Anvil Drop

Sam drops an anvil straight in front of him, dropping it down on opponent’s heads or on their feet right in front of him. The anvil sends opponents straight up, making it a solid way to occupy space when paired with the time clock.

Forward Special – Sam Slammer

Just like he does during his day job, Sam rushes forward with his arm extended to grab opponents and clonk them over their head, spiking them straight down. Despite his sedentary nature, he runs very fast during this move; perhaps Ralph gave him some pointers on his starting position form?

Up Special – Yarn Ball Yank

Sam tosses a bouncing yarn ball, holding one end of the string. If he uses Up B again, he’ll yank the string and pull himself in toward wherever the yarn ball was. If the yarn ball touches an opponent, they’ll be tethered to Sam, and he can pull them towards him too! The launch speed is dependent on the distance between Sam and the opponent when he yanks them in.

Down Special – Time Clock

With no time clock to punch into, Sam decides to bring his own! With brand-new ACME-branded insta-time clock fertilizer (just add water), Sam waters the ground in front of him to summon a time clock. Punching into the time clock will start a 5-second countdown before a whistle blows. For 5 seconds after the first whistle blows, all of Sam’s projectiles will pause all movement. During this time, their hitboxes are all still active.

This is my first jam character that I was able to finish in time for the deadline, and I’m very happy with how he came out. I hope you all enjoy!
