BDF Arctic Land Camouflage Scheme – FS-20
"Due to a lack of snow most of the year in Boscali and Primeva it was initially deemed unnecessary to adopt an arctic camo for the Vortex, however units posted on VTOL bases in the western mountains found their dark camo and RAM schemes contrasted heavily with the snow and gave the positions of their otherwise well-hidden outposts away. The solution was to apply a temporary washable paint over the dark green on the LCS scheme and despite concerns, it was found to have a neglible effect on RCS. Due to its temporary nature, ground crews are often ‘creative’ in its application."
Arctic variation of the AV-8B Land Camouflage Scheme for BDF Vortexes based on a real practice used to convert the woodland camo on RAF and USMC Harriers to an arctic camo for winter and arctic exercises.
