New War, Same Threat (1969)
1969 – The previously local Sino-Soviet conflict has gone global. After the Soviet incursion into the Xinjiang province has sparked an all out war against the PRC and the USSR. Seeing this as an opportunity to weaken the communist threat in Europe, the United States has started providing limited material and intelligence support to the PLA in hopes of protracting the war. Shortly afterwards President Lyndon B. Johnson began the withdraw from Vietnam in preparation for a potential conflict in Europe. Of course, the Soviets quickly realized that the United States was aiding the PRC, and as such, declared it as an act of open hostility. NATO forces have been pushed back from the North German Plain but the advance in the south has been slow for the Warsaw Pact forces. You are in command of one of the convoys on the reconstitued HX convoy line. Your mission is to ensure the safe transit of a NATO convoy from New York to Edinburgh.
