Werelanders
If you like werewolves or vampires, then you might like this mod. I created a new race in Kenshi called Werelanders. They are a predatory humanoid race that view the human and shek races as potential prey. They will eat prisoners, corpses, severed limbs, and drink a vile blood drink. So far I have placed them in two settings in Kenshi: Werelander manor in the grey desert and a set of ruins near Stack. There are also recruitables scattered around certain towns. Initially this race is not hostile to the player, however the -player does need to becareful on how they interact with the leader, Lady Shasta. Visiting her unprepared could cause your character to end up on the menu.
I created a couple of game starts. One that places a small group within some Werelander ruins in Holy Nation territory. The Werelanders had tried to set up a town there but the Holy Nation viewed them as unholy monsters. The player can choose to explore these ruins for some nice loot or high tail it out of there before the Holy Nation comes by again. With this game start I managed to alter the player starting squad to have the "Werelanders" of the squad to eat prisoners or corpses when not assigned a task. There is an issue however, anyone regardless of their race if they are not the leader, will eat corpses or prisoners. To fix this if you don’t want your non-werelanders to do this, then please assign them a task. I have tried working with the FCS to get Kenshi to only have Werelanders in the player squad to do that behavior but have been unsuccessful so far.
The second game start places a lone wanderer near Werelander Manor. You can choose to visit that town or go on your way. I have not done any alterations in behavior of the player squad for this start.
The Werelanders also have some instruments of torture. The Meat Grinder pulls limbs off of victims and turns the rest of the corpse into raw meat. There is also a Blood Drainer. Sometimes the corpse doesn’t completely disappear from these devices. If that happens, let a Werelander or bone dog eat it.
Some other issues: Recruited Werelanders, unless you did the ruins game start, will not engage in corpse or prisoner eating. The eating animation for Werelanders is the Frog Prince animation. It is kinda odd looking when a Werelander uses it for eating a corpse on the ground. I could not get the FCS to change the animation for humanoid eating. If anyone is good at creating animations in Blender and getting them to work in Kenshi, please let me know.
When Werelanders eat corpses or prisoners, it does not refill their hunger bar. That’s a game mechanic I could not change. So to satisfy their hunger, they can eat severed limbs or raw meat along with your typical food items.
I only used the FCS or the in game Kenshi editor to create things for this mod. I have not added any world states yet to the Werelanders. I think this mod should be compatible to most others since it only adds a couple of towns and a race to Kenshi.
10/23/19 Update brings hopefully some fixes and some new content. There are now Werelander refugees scattered across several biomes. These starving refugees may attack the player squad depending on how the player interacts with them. Also if the player imprisons a Werelander refugee they may be able to recruit them if they have the right characters talking to them. See change notes for more details. For these changes to take full effect you may need to import or start a new play through.
