<~The Moroccan Crisis~>
In 1907, Germany challenged France’s growing influence in Morocco, aiming to disrupt the Anglo-French alliance and secure its own imperial, commercial, and political interests, Germany sought to to challenge the French as an attack on their status, and as a rising great power [germany], to expand its sphere and demand international recognition of its interests in the region. Britain was set on supporting the French, through military means if it must, but after a disastrous naval and land direct intervention, exaggerated by anti-interventionist media outlets, where the Germans, with recon confirming the task force, used sudden-strike doctrines, mines, submarines, coordinated strikes. Britain lost multiple capital ships AND large swaths of troop transports with infantry inside. This shattered its intervention attempt in the Moroccan front, and any supplies sent to Morocco were often intercepted by the German fleet there, and lost tens of thousands of lives. Subsequentially, not too long after, public outrage skyrocketed, and not soon after, Britain underwent a political transition toward a predominantly anti-war, anti-interventionist, mainly inward focused government coalition coming to power in the nation, that turned it into cautious, global, inward neutrality instead than as an interventionist global force and expansionidt power, focused more on solidifying their empire than focusing externally. In the end, Germany gained limited-in-scope colonial leverage after Morocco but at a substantial ecnomic and human cost, and occupied some resource-rich areas west of Alsace-Lorraine, along with minor colonial territories elsewhere, such as in China, Southern and East Africa, and Oceania. //
<~ La Catastrophe Française ~>
France entered long-term civil war following the conflict, caused around 1918 by internal crisis and regression, protests from Nationalist and Socialist groups caused the incumbent president to resign, and extreme instability following another war lost to Germany yet again, and in 1924 the flare-up of the civil war would happen through right wing and left wing political violence. He, Olivier Popelin, leader of Imperial France, though at that time it was a nationalist coalition, gains his base first in the army, then after several victories, especially after the coalition was on the losing front, near collapse, he turned the tides in the war, albeit temporarily., he becomes wildly popular. A general strike in Paris over worker morale after years of economic struggle and surrounding regions leads into a snowball effect where socialists try and successfully to revolt in southern France following violent clashes with right wing groups throughout the country -> Military coups government to “secure interests” -> Outrage from population leads to a democratic counter-revolution, chasing the nationalist coalition out of the center and into the sparse countrysides of northeast and northwest france and the hills of southeast france
<~ Kolchak’s Russia ~>
Russia, meanwhile, descended into a prolonged civil war due to causes similar to OTL, mainly the poor economic state compared to the rest of Europe, eventually unified through Alexander Kolchak after a final massive grand offensive, but leaving the wider state of array in a state of unease, militarized rather than genuinely unified. Kolchak’s government upholds the Tsar as a ceremonial, divinely-mandated role, however the actual state in and of itself is essentially a proto-fascist regime, in a nutshell. They seek to invade into Eastern Europe for vengeance against Germany, but… In Eastern Europe, Germany secured influence through intervention during Russian collapse, establishing dependent regimes throughout Eastern Europe that remained loyal but increasingly brittle,, while anti-German rhetoric is on the low, it is rapidly increasing, exponentially. On the edge of anti-German uprisings, Lithuania quietly maneuvers toward secret negotiations with Russia. //
<~ First Tyrol War ~>
Austria-Hungary fragmented into successor polities after reforms that attempted to reorganize the empire did more harm than good, Italy, seeing an opportunity in a weakened enemy, a strongly willed population, and a revitalizing industry, launched a surprise invasion into South Tyrol and Trieste. They expected a quick victory, but very quickly, their war machine lost its steam, and the Austrians dug in instead of counterattacking. Eventually, from a costly, bloody war against Austria-Hungary, with no wins on either side, on Austria-Hungary’s last years of existence, over contested northern and Adriatic claims, with no decisive gains, the proud Italian population, initially cheering for war were silenced by the drums of battle, the white peace fractured the Italian people’s perception that their state was as strong as they thought it was, causing increasing deep political radicalization towards both sides, though currently on the downlow. //
<~ The Rabat Disaster ~>
Britain, having already suppressed the Irish uprising internally, stabilized into a restrained imperial power focused on ”internal-stability first”, and whose Accord members increasingly questioned British long-term commitment. The Zentralpakt is held only under pressure as Germany’s partners stayed aligned more from fear of Russian resurgence, conflict with Russia, and economic benefits rather than loyalty, while internal resentment simmered and built up over time, viewing the Germans as an impeachment on their freedom. //
Austria-Hungary has recently dissolved, and many nations stake their claim. Serbia is looking towards their north with envy, Ukraine and Poland are straying and straying from Berlin’s grip, France is on its last years of conflict, with the next steps defining the fates of Europe, Russia is preparing the march west, and Italy’s future is 50/50, between a radical, extremist government or a stable, strong nation, the Ottomans continue with their ailment with the Arabs rising up while the rest of their empire weakens slowly, and with Britain is slowly opening its doors again, will the tides calm, or will the appeal of Glory & Honor take over Europe?
