As far as I am aware, this is a first of its kind mod. But first…

CREDIT: Firstly this mod stands on the backs of giants. Thank you to Schizophrenic Cat-Lon whose Accurate Zones patch was foundational. Thank you to CrunkAintDead, Neman and Undernier whose Height Map Fixes were also foundational for learning and are carried through into the mod. Thanks to Skyattraction and Genpretz for their extraordinary efforts, insight and support (and digital archaeology). Finally a general thank you to the Kenshi Community Discord. Without their combined efforts this would not have been possible.

Greenlanders right? Come from a Green Land. Greenland. Iceland. Hm.

Icelander recognizes the subtle lore implication from the naming convention of Greenlanders and fleshes that out to incorporate the new Icelander race into the game; but more importantly adds their homeland to the northeast seas. There have certainly been mods that add new landmasses, but for the first time this location is fully recognized by all geographical systems within the game. Ground color, ground texture, foliage systems, weather, resources and animal spawns are all in place.

The town itself is gradually becoming more fleshed out, but this mod exists both as a fun pun (with way too much work involved) and as a proof of concept. I also hate editing dialogue in the FCS so it’ll be awhile. In theory, with what was learned here the entire map can be freely manipulated.

The Icelanders themselves are probably a little overpowered, but this is rationalized by their incredible hunger multiplier. They are not accustomed to the scarcity of the mainland.

My previous mod Legacy of the North is now incorporated into this mod in order to give the Icelander faction unique armor. Please use the RE_Kenshi plugin for extra armor slots for maximum utility otherwise the gloves will just be dead weight items. Probably not strictly required. View that mod for full credits and requirements.

INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:
UPDATE MANUAL INSTALL NO LONGER REQUIRED, RE_KENSHI NEEDED AS ALWAYS. INSTRUCTIONS BELOW ARE FOR TROUBLESHOOTING PURPOSES ONLY.

1. You will need Re_Kenshi
2. Only two files need to be manually installed, first backup the vanilla blendinfo.dat and blendmap.png this is really, really important.
3. Copy and paste the mod blendinfo.dat and blendmap.png into Kenshi/data/newland/land. This is the same place you found the original, vanilla counterparts.

Current in game map is improved courtesy of Skyattraction, much better than the previous blob and officially endorsed! It’s a bit of a swim to get there (as always).

LOAD ORDER: This mod must go below any other mods that change the height map or areas map as the game can only read one of these at a time.
