RIM!TALE is a large Undertale / Deltarune-inspired RimWorld mod about souls, monsters, LV, Determination, SAVE anchors, dark knowledge, practical magic, Boss Aspects, True Amalgamates, and the storyteller Wingdings Gaster.

This is not a character pack.

This is not just a spell pack.

This is a RimWorld system where souls can be scanned, stored, cracked, absorbed, weaponized, protected, remembered, and lost.

What it adds

  • Soul-bearing pawns – humans and monsters through Biotech xenotypes, inheritable genes and scanner logic.
  • Soul colors – red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, purple, and monster-only white souls.
  • LV and EXP – violent growth through kills, cruelty, witnesses, executions and soul work.
  • Practical Magic – magic improves through real use, not only through LV.
  • Monster magic – fire, ice, lightning, water, bone, gravity, barrier, healing, shadow, chaos, string and crystal magic.
  • Soul extraction – remove souls from living pawns, valid corpses or Fallen monsters.
  • Soul capsules – store, preserve, crack, darken or weaponize souls.
  • Soul absorption – monsters can absorb stored souls and grow stronger, stranger and less safe.
  • Fallen monsters – monsters may collapse into a Fallen state instead of dying normally.
  • Amalgamation – Determination and unstable soul work can melt body and identity.
  • True Amalgamates – late-stage Amalgamation can fuse multiple monsters into one body.
  • Boss Aspects – rare identity-shaping traits with unique abilities, passives and risks.
  • Essence Tempering – crafted weapons can inherit SOUL essence or monster magic essence from their creator.
  • SAVE anchors – restore a pawn snapshot without rolling back the world.
  • Dark knowledge – dark resurrection, dark anchors, dark capsules, dark matter, shadow shards and darkner systems.
  • Godhood Path – an endgame route where a monster can absorb enough souls to attempt divinity.
  • New factions – underground monsters and the darkner court.
  • New storyteller – Wingdings Gaster.

Wingdings Gaster

Recommended for a first RIM!TALE playthrough.

He is not “Randy, but weird.”

He is an observer.

At first, he is quiet.
Then your colony opens capsules.
Then someone studies Determination.
Then a body contains more names than it should.

Gaster reacts to soul science, SAVE anchors, CORE work, dark knowledge, True Amalgamates, Boss Aspects, LV growth and attempts at godhood.

He waits for your colony to become interesting.

Practical Magic

VIOLENCE IS ONE KIND OF EDUCATION.
PRACTICE IS ANOTHER.

LV still represents violent growth.

Practical Magic represents skill with a specific soul pattern, monster magic type, Boss Aspect or essence weapon ability.

Use magic successfully and the pawn gets better at that kind of magic.

This means Green SOUL, Barrier magic and Healing magic no longer need to grow through slaughter.

Kindness can be practiced by protecting, healing and saving.

Boss Aspects

Boss Aspects are rare identity-pattern traits.

They are not unique NPCs.
They are old shapes of power, changed by time, inheritance, mutation, violence and the year 5500.

Examples:

  • The Weakest – weakness, teleportation, telekinetic pressure and KR-style damage.
  • Goner – Goner hands, blasters, support, restraint, attack, defense and control variants.
  • Spear of Justice – spear pressure and overdetermined aggression.
  • Spider Host – binding, web control and megaspider domination.
  • Metal Idol – performance, social pressure, energy fire and mood control.
  • Soulless Bloom – slow movement, low moral response, soul echoes and dangerous absorption logic.
  • Deal Maker, Chaos Jester, Cyber Queen, Error Weaver, Ink Vessel and more.

Amalgamation

TWO NAMES.
ONE BODY.
RESULT: MOVING.

Amalgamation is not just a disease.

Early Amalgamation is instability: the body begins to fail under Determination, soul pressure and failed recovery.

Late Amalgamation can become a True Amalgamate: a fusion of multiple monsters into one body.

They can carry old names, genes, LV, monster magic, Boss Aspects, absorbed souls and permanent mental pressure.

They can become powerful.

They are not clean upgrades.

Godhood Path

A monster that absorbs enough souls can attempt to become something far beyond mortal.

Accepting this path turns the world against you.

The Godhood ending does not delete your save.
After the credits, you choose:

  • continue this world;
  • begin again.

Compatibility

Combat Extended is not officially supported yet.

RIM!TALE uses custom abilities, damage, LV scaling, pawn states, hediff logic, resurrection-like systems and magic effects. CE or other large combat/health overhauls may need dedicated compatibility work.

Final Note

RIM!TALE contains violence, soul extraction, body instability, resurrection, moral collapse, Amalgamation and endgame godhood.

It is still RimWorld.

Mercy is possible.
Cruelty is profitable.
Survival is ugly.
The story continues.
