Revised Extended Marriage Doctrines
Revised Extended Marriage Doctrines is my updated and revised version of the Extended Marriage Doctrines mod by kalanyr for the latest version of CK3.
Although I implemented numerous changes, I consider this mod as Intellectual Property of kalanyr. Therefore, all credits belong to kalanyr. Furthermore, I’ll stop maintaining Revised Extended Marriage Doctrines, if he asks me to.
NOTE The mod version is 0.9, which means it’s kind of a Release Candidate. Every file except the Character Window has been checked twice or trice. The GUI file also has been updated, but the patch 1.19 introduced so many changes to all GUI files, that I’m not sure, if the changes kalanyr made are working properly.
This mod splits the conventional Marriage Doctrines into separate doctrines for defining the number of spouses and consorts separately. So Monogamy will switch to 1 spouse, 0 consorts, Polygamy to 4 spouses, 0 consorts and Concubinage to 1 spouse, 3 consorts.
There is a third sort of Doctrines determining whether the First Marriage is celebrated or not.
This mod provides doctrines from 1 spouse respectively 0 consorts up to extreme 128 spouses or 128 consorts.
The conventional Ritual Traditions Monogamy, Polygamy and Concubinage has been adjusted to the Marriage Doctrines split.
Furthermore, a fourth tradition is added: the Managed Harem, allowing rulers independent of the number of spouses allowed by their faith taking up to 20 consorts depending on their tier. This doctrine will only be available if the game rules are set to allow all doctrines and the combination of Polygamy and Concubinage.
NOTE 1 All of this Ritual Traditions will override the Marriage Doctrines, thus a character, whose faith has the Doctrine ‚Polygamy 4‛ and its culture owns the Tradition ‚Concubinage‛ will be allowed to have 1 spouse and 3 consorts.
NOTE 2 In earlier versions of this mod and the ‚Expended Marriage Doctrines‛ mod by kalanyr, the Harem Tradition set the number of allowed spouses to 4, but after the update to version 1.19, this didn’t work any more. Therefore, the Harem Tradition now only determines the number of allowed consorts, the number of allowed spouses will be determined by the Marriage Doctrines.
This mod introduces 3 Game Rules.
The First determines what kind of doctrines are available:
• Standard only allows combination of doctrines corresponding to the conventional Concepts of Marriage
◦ Monogamy = 1 spouse + Celebration of First Marriage
◦ Polygamy = 4 spouses + No Celebration of First Marriage
◦ Concubinage = 1 spouse, 3 consorts + No Celebration of First Marriage
• Granular allows any combination up to 4 spouses and 4 consorts
• All allows any combination of spouses and consorts
The Second determines whether Polygamy and Concubinage may be combined or not.
The Third determines whether the Marriage Celebration Doctrine is determined by Marriage and Concubinage Doctrines or can be chosen independently.
The Rev. Ext. Marriage Doctrines – No Blasphemous Union-Patch mod introduces a Fourth Game Rule to deactivate the Opinion Modifier “Forced My Relative into a Blasphemous Union”.
For further information please consult the page of the original Extended Marriage Doctrines mod.
CAUTION This mod doesn’t just add some Marriage Doctrines. For the Extended Marriage Doctrines to take effect, every reference to the conventional doctrines in every effect, modifier, trigger and event had to be modified. The result are more than 30 modified files. Therefore Revised Extended Marriage Doctrines mod is a complete overhaul of the in-game marriage system. So there is a great chance, that other mods might interfere by modifying the same files.
But not only marriage related mods might cause problems. As it is impossible to override a single event, the whole events file has to be included in a mod. This mod contains 10 modified events files, which contains approximately 100 events, most of them relating to complete different topics than marriage. And every mod that’s modifying one of these events will override my modifications.
To cut a long story short, there is a huge chance, that not every feature in this mod is working as intended because of other mods installed.
NOTE: In a running game this mod ought to replace the Extended Marriage Doctrines mod without any problems as the name of the game rules and the doctrines didn’t change. But I added a new Monogamy Doctrine named ‚doctrine_polygamy_1‛. In Debug Mode you’ll find a decision named Establish „Revised Extended Marriage Doctrines“, that will adjust this.
I made compatibility patches for the following mods:
- Compatch for the Traditional Tenets mod by ‚fhqwhgads‛,
- Compatch for the Tenets to Doctrines mod by ‚fhqwhgads‛.
- Compatch for the Fornication / Adultery Doctrine Split (updated) mod maintained by me.
Every other mod, that also modifies the files listed here, is incompatible!
