REAI: AI Army & Manpower Overhaul (1.2 Active Recruitment Update)

REAI: Army & Manpower Overhaul (AAMO) is a highly optimized, targeted script module designed to solve the mid/late-game military stagnation. It forces major powers to legitimately invest (100% cheat-free!) in their military infrastructure (Barracks/Armories and Regulars with the new update) so they can effectively utilize their manpower pools and build massive, professional standing armies.

As you guys know, REAI has never relied on those cheap "spawn free troops or buildings out of thin air" cheats that vanilla or other mods use.
Active & Fair Army Recruitment:
I wrote a custom script that teaches major AI nations how to actively spend their resources. They don’t get free units. Instead, they will spawn proper historical army comps right in their capital, BUT they are forced to pay the exact real gold and manpower cost upfront.
To make sure the AI doesn’t bankrupt itself and plays rationally, this system has strict safety locks. The AI will only recruit if:
– Their monthly balance is +100 or higher.
– Their manpower pool is at least 50% full.
– They have a healthy monthly manpower recovery about 500+.
No cheats, just smart spending. Let me know how the new AI system behaves in your campaigns!
Do I need the main REAI mod for this to work?
No. AAMO is a 100% standalone sub-mod. It has its own logic and will work perfectly fine on its own.
However, it is HIGHLY recommended to use it alongside the core REAI (Rational Empire AI) mod.
Good question! The core REAI mod changes the AI’s "brain" (defines and weights). It teaches the AI to want Regular troops instead of levies, and fixes their economy so they have the budget to afford them.
However, the game engine has a flaw: an AI can "want" massive armies all day, but if it forgets to build Barracks and Armories, its manpower pool will remain tiny, meaning it can never recruit more Regulars. This is exactly why the vanilla AI fails to build huge professional armies—unless it randomly decides to construct a manpower building by pure luck, it will never reach those massive Regular troop counts.
The Difference: The main REAI mod provides the Brain and the Budget. AAMO provides the Muscle. AAMO uses hard scripts to force the AI to physically construct the required manpower buildings.
🛡️ 100% CHEAT-FREE: And most importantly, AAMO does this without cheating! Unlike many AI overhauls that simply spawn free buildings out of thin air, this mod forces the AI to pay the exact same price as a human player. The script dynamically reads all cost modifiers, inflation, and building cost increases from other mods, etc. No magic money, no free spawns—just rational, calculated investments.
You need both mods to create a true late game experience.
- Targeted Scope: To keep the game highly optimized, this script specifically targets the true heavyweights: All European powers with a Country Rank of 2+ (Means Duchy and above), plus the Ottomans, Mamluks, Morocco, and Tunis. Random tribes or Ming won’t be wasting CPU cycles trying to run this logic. (Later i can add the whole world if u guys want).
- Smart Priority: The AI yearly checks its balance and active advances. It prioritizes Barracks first. If Barracks are unavailable, it shifts its investment to Armories.
- Anti-Death Spiral Logic: The AI will only initiate manpower building construction if its monthly balance is exceptionally healthy (75+). It will not bankrupt itself just to build an Armory.
- Super Lightweight: This mod is designed to be invisible. It runs smoothly in the background without causing any stuttering, late-game lag, or FPS drops.(TESTED with Profiler!)
