Bucyrus Erie Model 24 Dragline (building version)
This is an update of the Bucyrus Erie Model 24 dragline commissioned by ryantheskinny and made by BluE_BrO, to make it work as a building rather than an excavator.
The original could only be used on gravel/bauxite mines or on slightly dodgy open cast mines working with gravel deposits. Here, with permission, I have modified it to work like an ingame mine.
This is a colossally expensive building. As well as costing 345t steel, 28t mech comp and 4.5t electronic components, it will require a great deal of power (circuit breaker 4MW, comes with its own high voltage connection). In exchange for this, it is capable of the same output as a full sized coal mine for under 10% of the staffing requirements. As in real life, I think it represents an outstanding example of applying capital to a problem rather than labour. (I wanted to also require engineers rather than regular workers, but this doesn’t seem to be possible for a mine.)
This is easily the most scuffed mod I’ve made yet (converting a vehicle into a building with animation) and is well out of my comfort zone. As such it’s got a few problems:
- For some reason the model is inverted from the vehicle version, you need to hit T when placing for the text to look right.
- Textures look wrong when placing the model (but fine when finishing it).
- The animation works but is extremely slow; I don’t really understand animation and am afraid to try to fix it, but if you know how to double its speed I’d love that, hit me up here or Discord.
Comes in iron and coal versions, because you can already use the dragline for gravel and bauxite mines, and nobody needs that much uranium.
Model by BluE_BrO, commissioned by ryantheskinny, used with permission from both. Added rail version at the suggestion of Didts.
